Once I've had a go with the medium and coarse with the same bud type I'll make a collage shot showing the initial impressions of nug on, nug through and the resultant chop.
The Emerald/Hematite combo is by far my favourite of what I have. Seconded by Emerald/Sapphire. The Sky Blue/Emerald comes in last, personal preference for sure, it still looks great.yes please. excited for more initial impressions. i am drooling so hard over an emerald.
the real question is what color do I pick for the bottom if going for emerald/hematite... not sure if sapphire would look good or if i should just play it safe w emerald bottom
If you look back a few days, I posted all three grinds. Can someone show pics of grind results of the fine and medium plates......thanks.

Tried out the coarse. Looks really good. Didn't seem to knock as much kief off, or any at all. the through holes are relatively large, and the result looks really good. Very even and fluffy, clumps together perfectly. It looks like a great fit for powerful convection vapes.
I used boveda packs for a while but found they dried my stash out faster over time.@MoltenTiger, moisture also is an essential factor. I keep my herb in 4oz. jars, each with a 62% 4-gram Boveda packs. I don't predetermine when I'm gonna use it so I rarely leave it out to dry in advance, just use it straight from the jar. So between a coarse, fluffy grind & moist herb, it makes for super-nice smooth vapor. For me, when the herb is dry, the vapor is too harsh for my enjoyment.

The grinder looks amazing. Like, it's stupidly good. I don't think you could go wrong with any colour choice.
BTW, I actually don't know if I have onyx or hematite. I believe the hematite batch came out darker, so I think that's what I have. But I'm not sure.
And IMO, I think it could be its own colour 'Slate', or like on Archer where he has Dark Black and Slightly Darker Black turtle necks.
But, then again, I think a slightly lighter colour/gun metal would be as good if not better.
I'm having a hard time trying to get a good photo that does the thing justice.
It's like glass, it looks so much better in person.
I like the two-tone colour scheme, but I can't help but feel a sapphire brilliant cut piece would be worth having. The sapphire is a daaaaaamn nice blue, just as the emerald is a great green.
I went with emerald because a couple months before the SLX was released I was eyeing off a Santa Cruz green three piece and I never got over wanting it (well, I have now!).
It seems fitting getting a green grinder for green, like getting a black lidded grinder for black pepper.
But, the blue is super nice. I'm trying to think of real life things to compare it to (well actually I have sifted real sapphire from the Weld River and it does it justice), I bet they make Ford's in a similar colour, a deep royal metallic blue. Also HTC U11.
The stack of Green-Hematite(?)-Sapphire looks mighty fine as well...
The only difficult decision about getting one of these things is picking the colour, if you can justify the price.
Now, on that note, I really think this is a worthwhile purchase for the right person. But, it is expensive. This is an end-game piece, so it's not a rip off, it is intended for those serious about their gear.
It's a funny one. I have spent outrageous amounts on gear compared to most stoners I know, who still smoke tobacco and weed from cheap brass stem bongs. Though I feel content with the value I have received over the years.
The value of this grinder set is about the cost of a quality half ounce for me, so considering how many half ounces I enjoy consuming, it's well worth it to chop them up with a tool like this.
That said, when it comes to looking at the single mid-piece set ups, I think this is probably the way to go for most people.
I always recommended to G4L to go modular too, because then those who opt that way can upgrade for a smaller cost than getting a whole new grinder down the track. And there seems to be enough notable difference between the plates to perhaps justify that. Mostly, if you have several styles of vapes on rotation, it is great to have multiple plates to match.
edit: I'll add a few more things, the lid really is able to move around a fair bit laterally and if you slide it back and forth it does clack pretty loudly. It is worth acknowledging that. I don't mind it
And I don't miss the notches/burrled edges or grips. I like the size. It's not too much smaller than a large SLX, but because it is a bit smaller, I think you get a better grip on it. Plus, the mid plate and the base twist as one with no threads to bind shut.
It making grinding a complete joy
Several days and many grinding processes later: The Brilliant Cut Grinder is now officially the best grinder that I have ever owned. Consistent results, excellent handling, each and every time. The Spacecase and NewVape grinders are pissed and look down sulky from their place on the shelf where they will probably stay for quite some time now.
The other grinders are like:
