Brilliant Cut Grinder

@virtualpurple, I'm guessing we're gonna be allowed to share our thoughts in real time. @stonaGrinders really wants this grinder to "be right" before release, so beta testers getting questions from people not testing, gets the b-t's to think about features that never would have occurred to them. It's a good thing.

I just gotta know vp, what do you do with what, literally, seems to me is a powder grind? I'd have to think that this type of grind/those 2 grinders are a niche market.

I don’t have a specific task in mind with this to be honest. However I do like to experiment with different grind consistencies. But my qualms from getting the mflb are how small it is, I feel like I would get annoyed with having to reload and grind with it, which is a very first world problem I admit, but I also think I would lose it super easy.

It’s not nesessarily that I would use it super often, as you say it likely is more niche and I would probably use a fine grind setting far more often. But I like the idea of my next grinder truly feeling like it’ll cover all the bases and last a good while. Honestly that’s what I feel like is missing from my lift grinder is that their fine grind just doesn’t seem fine to me, but with the height and spacing of their blades even if they released a plate with finer pattern for the herb to fall through I’m not sure that it would result in a finer grind.

I certainly wouldn’t want @stonaGrinders to try and develop a part that they think won’t be worth the time and expense required to create, as who knows, it may only influence my purchase and not be appealing to others.

I very much appreciate that it seems the beta crew will be allowed to share their thoughts. That sort of thing goes a long way with me in how I view the creators. Thank you @stonaGrinders for your dedication to excellence in your product.

Any chance one of you testers would be willing and able to post pics of the different grind consistencies, like say against a coin or other item for scale? I would definitely be interested in seeing what each grind will look like.

Thanks folks for your input!

@virtualpurple

The MFFG is damn tiny!! For my hands it is a PITA to use...
It does give a nice fluffy grind but place a 62% nug in there and you got a gummed up grinder.

We will all get shots of the 3 types of grind with something for scale!
As I do now, I invert for a few grinds and then finish off the regular way.
Provides a grind between the Kannastor GR8TR and the New Vape FG, perfect imo.

@wild anchovy
It does really well! I do have a bit of build up on the posts but nothing serious and nothing to stop the smooth grinding!
I will take a pic a bit later and post it for you!

Honestly, I only use my MFFG for my MFLB.

Well, you'll just have to give us a comparison photo of the fine grind & your specialty grind above. :)

No point at the moment since I am still V1 Beta...
The whole grind has changed and the upside down part is no longer required.

Once the next batch show up, it will be show and tell and question time!
:D

I just stop by every now and then because I really love using this grinder!

Another 2 weeks of constant use with buds of all moisture contents!
Bone dry to 62% Boveda kept bud.
The only difference I can see is how the product falls out of the herb chamber.
The bone dry herb comes out like dry, loose herb...LOL!
The more moist herb falls out as a fluffy clump of herb, easy to use!

The grinder has been cleaned once before, when I mixed up the parts...
No resin ring with only a bit of build up on the posts.
Still buttery smooth grinding action!!

Is it safe to clean with ISO? Apparently Santa Cruz doesn't recommend it for them and had a buddy who's colour came off during a cleaning session.

Not sure on that answer!
@stonaGrinders have you experimented with the anodizing failures some ISO for cleaning? What do you recommend us cleaning them with?

I used hot water and dish soap and a toothbrush, worked really well!

Grinders for Life

Grinder Manufacturer
We've had to create another account to change the username. We went with "Grinders for Life" because we will be offering more than just the Brilliant Cut Grinder in the future. Other designs will be released.

So a key thing to be looking for with a grinder upgrade for me is consistency of the grind across the board and with different source material.
I currently only have 3 strains! Strains don't last long around me, and I'm in a majorly limited black market. But that offers some interesting material choice and variance.

I'm really excited for this product, it is shaping up into something very ideal.
It already looks amazing, and we'll make sure it grinds on point, and holds up to the task of absolute frequent use :science:

Smooth turning, minimal brushing, very rare deep cleaning, consistency, aesthetics, comfortability and secure encasement are the categories I prioritise with a grinder product.

Are there any oversights? Extras? Rare use cases? What are others interested in finding out?

Edit: I also want to be able to grind large nugs up without having to break them up, even stubborn types

We've designed this grinder to bust up everything that fits into the grinding chamber. It has grinding and cutting surfaces pretty much everywhere. In the traditional grinder design, the herb would be crushed in between the center magnets as well as above the outside rim on the male side of the grinder. We added a drill-like cutting edge on the center magnet post to eliminate any herb from getting caught up in the center. We've also added grinding teeth on the outside rim of the top to stop crushing of herb from happening there. The outside grinding teeth also dramatically increases the available grinding area. There are nearly double the amount of teeth on the top compared to other grinders of this size. This speeds up the grinding process and allows you to grind more herb. We've seriously torture tested this design and it's never become stuck like other grinders do. We've packed it completely full and it was able to grind it all with relative ease.

We really wanted to reduce the amount of metal on metal contact between the two grinding plates. When the grinder is completely centered and magnetically axially aligned there is no metal on metal contact. The only contact is between the outside rim of the middle plate and the low-friction washer on the top. This creates an extremely smooth grinding action. The goal was to eliminate binding and jamming and we did. This grinder is smooth when it is clean or dirty. You don't need to clean it to maintain its functionality like other grinders.

The quick connect mechanism on the herb collection chamber really streamlines the grinding experience. You can access your herb within a second or two and then it automatically closes when your done. Once you get used to it, you'll have a hard time going back to threads. Another great thing about it is that it transfers torque in both directions unlike threads. Unscrewing the grinder during grinding and over-tightening were always annoying problems with past designs.

We've really done a deep dive into grinding consistency in the last few months. We know how to control the grind size and keep it uniform. With the community's feedback, we really want to dial it in. We designed it for fast flow-through, while ensuring no unbroken chunks get pushed through and maintaining grind uniformity. With grinding and cutting edges everywhere and an optimized hole pattern, it rarely leaves material in the grinding chamber.

We made a bunch of beta test grinders this week and they're waiting to be anodized. Earlier in the week, we made a few more prototypes and refined the coarse plate further. The new beta coarse plate is now slightly coarser than the one in the grinders that we sent to @szai and @antispleen.

If there are any oversights, we hope we can identify and correct them during the beta test. We know you guys have an immense amount of experience and we want to tap into that to create the best grinder ever.

Not sure on that answer!

Mild dish soap and hot water with a toothbrush does work really well. We'll do some testing and some long soaks in ISO to see if we can replicate that problem.

We've moved away from that tooth design to reduce the amount of buildup on the teeth. We went with a diamond tooth pattern on the new grinders and it's working great while also reducing buildup. The anodized coating should also reduce the amount of buildup.

@Grinders for Life

Nice name change!!
I have to agree with you on the zero threads. I do not think I will go back to a grinder with threads.
The magnetic retention between the parts is phenomenal!
Easy access to all parts with minimal effort and time.

The hot soapy water soak and toothbrush worked perfectly for me.
It was clean in under 5 easy minutes and it did not require a cleaning, more that I quite like the bright finish on my beta.

It is the only grinder on my desk, apart from the coarse Diamond-Cut Beta!!
This is definitely THE grinder to be on the lookout for when it is released!

Now that is how a product is considered to be successful. Excellent R&D. You guys will take the market by storm!

Grinders For Life......... Thanks for creating something that was needed long ago!

The center drill deal is so cool.....this is really a huge deal to me. So simple yet so effective and helpful. Now I do not have to move small bits off the center magnet area after loading the grinder.

Absolutely can not wait for this grinder to be in my hands......just awesome stuff here, thanks!

Ohh yeah, that’s something that does annoy me with my current grinder that I didn’t think of - ground up herb getting stuck in the grinding chamber and having to poke it through the holes to get it into the bottom section.

Glad this grinder gets it all through on its own and it’s a consistent size!

Just a dude
I’ve been happy with my 1+yr grinder (Kannastor GR8TR Solid) until that dang ol’ @lazylathe and his infectious enthusiasm dropped this sweet temptation in my lap. I can’t in good faith even blame him, although I wanna, because I haven’t ever felt anything special about that grinder. Even though it does a great job of consistent fine, fluffy grinds; there’s no love. Especially now, with this on my mind.

Almost everything else in my vape world has some love for the product/company attached to it. I find that using good equipment from people you feel good about definitely elevates my whole experience.

I’m thinking this is THE grinder for my life and I already feel pretty good about the folks behind it. When this is released, I’m fairly certain that my satisfaction with my current grinder is going in the toilet. Unless they double their asking price, they are getting my money. No threads, no more poking holes. Oh yeah.

You are not the only one holding a grudge against me and the KannaStor...
At the time, it was an awesome grinder and still is today.
Unfortunately the @Grinders for Life blows the KannaStor away for the exact reasons you mention.
Those were also my main complaints plus the plates moved a lot and messed the grind up and my mood.

The lack of threads is HUGE!!!
I do not think I could ever go back to threads again. I still try the KannaStor but when i have to get at my herb...twist, twist,twist,twist...
Loved the New Vape Fine Grinder for a while but they are not interested in making a 3 piece and getting my herb out is a PITA every time, so it is also out.

The grind consistency has been tweaked and improved on even more than my Beta V1!!
I cannot wait to test this out because the grind I am getting is pretty damn perfect for my vapes.
