Best room deodorizer?

I use an essential oils atomizer (not the ones that dillute the oil with water but one of those where you just drop the essential oil in pure) and some nice, certified pure essential oils (make sure you don’t buy anything synthetic or dilluted), usually something along the lines of Bergamot, Lavender, something Pine-y or woody like Cedar etc.

sealing the room seems to help a lot but every other smell will also linger so then it becomes an incentive to stop eating and leaving plates in my office

I'm resurrecting this thread.

I can't smell anything. Long story. But I think it's relevant for context. I can't determine whether there is a need for "smell mitigation", and I can't tell if it's working. I'd also prefer not to look like I'm trying hard. Hence no desire to suddenly start doing things out of character, like burning candles or incense, or buying a large air purifier. (The Neutralizer might be a low key option.)

I'm trying to follow some of the above recommendations that fit "for me". Clean my gear quickly after use. Keep smelly stuff (or, for me, what I *assume* to be smelly) in a container when possible. DHV. Sploofy Pro 2 to be acquired.

So does anyone use other natural options that give off a masking smell but that are subtle? Maybe a new box to hold gear that is freshly made out of cedar? Or a key/change dish made out of something else that's pleasant?

I guess I'm going to have to trust you with anything I might get. I don't have a good person to say "hey, does this smell bad?"

Would also recommend keeping everything stinky in airtight containers (eg weed, used glass, devices etc), and washing the containers inside and out regularly if possible. I keep my dirty device parts in a glass tupperware that gets run through the dishwasher every time I clean, and most my devices are in smellproof / airtight bags.

Potpourri and cedar would probably help, but in my experience it’s best to try and contain smells and clean smell sources rather than cover up. Could also try boiling vinegar or making a simmer pot every so often, acids work wonders for mitigating smells. I’d do an acid heavy simmer pot (fresh citrus, splash of vinegar, sugar and aromatics) at least once a week when I shared an airway with a neighbour who thought they were being sneaky by smoking inside with the windows closed, lights and fans off.

Thank you.

I am doing some of the above, but reading your approach made me think about how some of my components are in Ziplocs, and then currently in an antique writing box. But the Ziplocs can't be washed, and putting a cleaned device in a smelly Ziploc may not be as productive (at least over time). I have some glass jars inbound and will see how those work, along with maybe some other glass containers for stems, the TM2, etc.

I'd like to keep a good bit of my gear in the writing box, or in that and something else that looks like it should be on a shelf near my working desk. Maybe another box made out of cedar or sandalwood. (Research topic for tomorrow.) I view the wood as a layer in my system. (And an excuse to buy some more stuff for the picture in my head.)

I am not viewing these as mutually exclusive. Hopefully I can do better in cleaning and containing, but also to have something natural as a possible cover up. (Keep in mind I can't smell if *any* of this is even necessary!)

I will keep these steps in mind, but I will probably only resort to this level of effort if someone calls me out for the smell. Absent that I would probably start to think (ok, acknowledge) that I'm going over board.

I use a mixture of oud and amyl, but I have a very particular use case.
I'm intrigued. How do you use them? In my search for aromatic woods for boxes, etc. for my desk (covered in another thread), I found oud is an aromatic wood. Are you using oud shavings in pot pourri?

This is a topic of interest to me as my fam detests cannabis & smells. I try to be mindful by doing all my consumption outside.

Vaping is so much less smelly than smoking but it does smell a bit, but that smell does dissipate in a while. I think smoking smells can linger much more longer.

Even by having all consumption outside, the cannabis itself has a smell, i try to store in sealed jars. it still has a slight odor, they have to get over it.

Another tip is check your vape if it has smell. I have a PAX and it is particularly smelly, getting end caps helps immensely.

no not particularly you, but wondering if that was a post-COVID reaction?
Nope. I had Covid and didn’t lose taste or smell. I later had a TBI and immediately lost smell, and a few months later lost taste (other than what one’s tongue can distinguish, which are salty, sweet, sour, bitter and savory/umami). It’s been years.

I've tried multiple things over the years and Ozium Vanilla is the king and is all I've bought the last 6 months. My wife is a super smeller and super taster and that is the only thing that removed the skunk smell within a few minutes where she said she only smelled vanilla on return. That sold it for me. The Ozium orange citrus scent is by far the best smelling, but it does not initially cover the smell as well as the vanilla one. There's also the original scent and outdoor essence but they give me a headache and per my wife are not as quickly effective as the vanilla.

There's also a car one I think called carbon black or something which I have a small can of and spray in the car when I get out if I had any sessions in there. It works well in the sense I can't smell anything bad when I get in the next time, but I don't know how fast it takes effect and initially masks the smell before destroying it.

For heavier smells I use an ozone generator to treat a whole room but you can't go in for a few hours after.

+1 for Ozium. I'm lucky enough I dont need to cover the aroma often, but when I do, it has never failed me!

Air purifier for the main job
And
I also save any silica gel sachets I get and throw them in old jam jars and pour febreze over the crystals so they swell up and place the jars around the house to mask any residual stink
