this thread summarizes what i see quite well. i'm from QLD myself and lately testing has shown that what's currently available to me is either in the ~6-9% range or the ~14-16% range for THC concentration. Most people i know had no idea what BHO was till i introduced them too it and most i know stick to their dirty Gatorade bottle with vapers being few and far. it's a sad state here in AUS IMO.

Yes, my friend.. it is sad. Only 2 doors down from my house is a friend who strictly smokes weed in a little squeezable sauce bottle made into a bong with a garden hose and conepiece.
He doesn't like the vape. It is indeed a sad state of affairs in our country hahaha

Yeah I don't really 'get' people like that. I guess they prefer tradition, pretty much everyone started smoking out of some weird cheap bong, most are cigarette smokers and enjoy the physical act of smoking. Their experiences with vaping have always been unsatisfactory because it's a different kind of high that slowly builds on you (but imo is much stronger than just smoking it). I hate to come off as pretentious but I kinda just look down at people who smoke out of plastic bottles and spin their weed.

Dont think there is any reason to look down on people who like different things, imo like most things people are just unaware of the hazards and looking down on others never helps to change peoples minds.
Ive never tried it, nor has any one offered, its always been afoaf.

you all bring valid points however i think there may be a few underlying issues that do need consideration. in Australia the legality and availability comes into play in the sense that it's rather expensive to smoke out of anything other than a plastic DIY job. glass is either hard to find, expensive or just generally doesn't co-inside well with the 'go hit a couple bills at the park' attitude. glass is easily broken and can't be quickly thrown away if the coppa's roll past. and vapes.... a decent daily driver will cost about the same as an ounce here.
side-note, i've never seen any glass that i'd estimate over $80 here. when i do see glass it's usually cheap, small pieces.

Luckily for Us,things are changing slowly,
decent glass?....Ozbongs are stepping up and getting in some decent glass at long last.The blaze stuff and their rigs are pretty hot.I have bought bits from them.good prices and shipping.they always throw in a little extra something which is nice.No adverts or anything,just how it went dealing with them.

OzBongs are slowly stepping up, and Australian based MJ and Vape online stores are thriving by the looks of things. Hopefully it keeps progressing!

Another Aussie here. Sorry I'm late, I only just found this thread! I live South Australia.
I never know what strain I'm getting when it's from a dealer. Sometimes I'm lucky enough to get a few buds from small scale personal grows, that's the only time I know names.
I reckon there has been a slow decline in overall quality of what's available on the street. Occasionally some really good stuff comes through but goes quickly.
Every year around February (give or take) things really dry up. All the crap people couldn't move during the good times surfaces and is reluctantly bought. This year the dry spell lasted for fucking ages! As far as I can gather most large operations put out a crop for Christmas then turn the system off for the hotter months. Partly for a little holiday during the summer and because profits dwindle when you have to have a million fans and air cons in your grow room lol.
Lots of grow ops have been getting busted here lately too. I think that has something to do with the drop of quality. If we just legalized it and taxed it this state could spend money on more important issues. Like how we're not allowed to four wheel drive or motorcyle in our state forests. Our vehicle modification laws could also come into line with the rest of the country too, that'd be nice
All in all I fucking love this country and the community I live in. Any other SA peeps on the forum?
All of my mates are filthy combusters who mix tobacco with their weed even though they done even smoke! I used to be right there with them. I LOVED ripping huge bongs! I was the only one of our group that smoked ciggies. It tooks me 4 years to quit smoking because of the mixing. Stopped mixing and grabbed an e-cig and finally kicked the tobacco. Then I found vaping and never looked back. My mates still come around, hang out and smoke in my shed. They all know to blow their smoke straight up coz I get grumpy if I smell it lol. The other night they had to choose between a 'sweet poweraidy' or the ceramic bong with a glass stem. They were seriously torn and had a hard time deciding. Glad thats not me any more! My mates won't wont even try smoking straight. My best mate has even turned down bubble, keif and bho fresh herb sandwich in the Extreme Q in favour of his dirty combustion piece. Oh well.
I always had nice glass bongs because I stoked up when I was 18 before the laws about selling them changed

Good post dude, if i'm ever visiting SA ill host a sesh! You seem very clued in and im reminded a lot of my own mentality towards my combuster friends. It's funny how into it they are. vapor doesn't stink out my neighbourhood
Saying that,Vaping just isn't as much of a ritual as rolling.
The whole ceremony of building lighting and passing I personally miss a little too.
Nearest thing I found to simulate smoking is a wood log on full and a dry stem in the centre of the table....works well and blows up everyone who try's it.
Smokers seem to tend to want the higher temp hits and thick vapor to appreciate it.
They turn up now and it's second nature packing the stem and passing the log around, watching who can blow the biggest clouds.
But would any of them consider owning a vape?

I've sold most of my combustion collection to good mates at good prices. It's funny how my perception of combustion has changed so much... maybe its because I have my sense of smell back now?

I find that vaping has more of a ritual for me when I'm by myself though. Loading and unloading vapes is similar to the bong packing ritual. I like to vape through water and I'm a cloud chaser... probably because of my bong smoking background. In SA I'd have to say that bongs seem to be the most common and preferred form of consumption.
I'm always a little guarded about my use. People close to me know how much I'm in to it but I don't advertise it to the world. Most people who supply in my area aren't hard core hustlers, its more like mates helping each other out. I've never heard of any delivery services advertising on gumtree... didn't know we had the craigs list thing going in Adelaide. Just searched '420' and there was 2 wanted post and that's it. Are the Melbourne peeps skeptical about using these services?

New to this, looking to get me a vaporizer but never tried one before and it seems a pretty expensive set up cost. Any tips on where to start looking as far as getting something to Australia? (Sydney-ish) Everything seems to be geared towards US etc everywhere I look.
I haven't smoked for a long time but used to be pretty heavy, don't imagine I have a tolerance any more at all. Looking for probably a desktop type vape, don't care about portability.
