hey dave that's the test I took! I probably still have the results saved somewhere
@clukx, It's a pretty good test resulting in some general direction and extremes, rather than just a positive or negative score to indicate Aspergers.

If you have a chance, see if you can post your results, or retake and post. If you need help posting with pics, let me know.

Self-diagnostic psychological tests are too dependent on accurate self-awareness. For this reason they are fundamentally skewed, as self-awareness is necessarily biased by one's psychology in the first place.

@clukx , Cool, will take a closer look at this later tonight. (reason after next reply)

@grokit, Taking this for granted, the creators of Self-diagnostic psychological tests have built in safeguards to remove tests that are too dependent on accurate self-awareness. For this reason they are unfundamentally unskewed, as one's own self self-awareness is balanced out not necessarily solely biased by one's psychology in the first place.

Wait, what? :o

Yeah, I'm still vaked... :brow:

I've been reading online about the different artists, singer songwriters and actors with Aspergers or on the Autism Spectrum.
Such as:
James Taylor
Dan Akroyd - Tourette too
Daryl Hannah
James Durbin
Gary Newman from the Cars
Heather Kuzmich - model
Travis Meeks - guitarist
Clay Marzo- surfer

Don't let your symptoms or diagnosis hold you back from being whatever in life you want to be or do.

There's a huge list of people that are famous that are suspected as having Aspergers I didn't add those.

EDIT
I did see Bill Gates as one of the folks that is suspected of having Aspergers. I was blown away when I read James Taylor was diagnosed with Aspie. Who would have known? I think people are more open about these diagnosis because we know more about it. For many years we didn't hear about Autism Spectrum or Autism.
It's such a wide range - to low functioning to genius and everything in between.

@CarolKing , agreed!

If what is suspected of Bill Gates is true, not much in the way of Aspiness has held him back.

Research and learning, comparing notes with others, and through trial and error, we each can find a way to apply our "talents" towards fulfilling our dreams. This also helps us manage any deficits, find workarounds to them, or help others find their way.

For me, really explained alot of things that i recall while growing up. (not done growing up yet either!). And helped me in finding a suitable career as well.

I agree, @DDave - for me, getting some confirmation that my brain/neurons are, indeed, wired differently, has freed me from a lifetime of misunderstood events, emotions, and reactions.

If all it has done is changed the filter I see my past through, that is enough for me. Going forward, I anticipate more sensitivity to how communication happens.

I always forget that I suspect myself of aspergers, and wonder why I get so damn mad, frustrated, depressed and I feel little empathy towards humans most of the time..its easier to just be with myself in my mind then try to explain anything to anyone lol...

@Enchantre , from one Aspie to another, I have to say you have a gift in you choice and use of words! Your last posting in this thread contains two awesome and well-explained points. 1) Perspective for me relating to past events completely shifted positively, once I discovered my Aspiness. 2) I still communicate in a slightly different way, more pictorally than most.

I did have an awakening on the feelings others have. I dont know what triggered it, but i can see other's feelings now. Still researching this!

@clukx , give it time. Took me almost 1/2 a century to start gaining understanding. Hang around this thread or feel free to PM me.

Bless your heart @Jeppy What would we do without Grandparents? Our grandchildren are like our own children. We want what's best for them. Thank goodness for the extended family our grandparents and aunts and a uncles.

I have a couple of grandchildren, they are the light of my life.

I'm learning very much. The biggest lesson is going to be that of patience. Don't get me wrong, I didn't just start raising and caring for these children. We have been there since day one. I have been blessed and cursed to have had a career in the mental health field. I say that because my training didn't prepare me for Aspergers. I frequently told my wife she was enabling him. I never realized that patience and understanding were the most important tools. I do now. Thank goodness it's not too late and I'm smart enough to recognize and act accordingly.

It's really hard for some of us with aspergers to deal with things like school, listening, doing things we don't want to and a some of us get attached to things that can be very small and pointless to to dangerous or strange and people have often not understood when I tried to tell them I can't or its not right for me...

It's no wonder there are so many of "us" here....

Medical Marijuana can be used to alleviate the negative symptoms and accentuate the positive aspects of Asperger's Syndrome.

Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) and Cannabidiol (CBD) are the two main cannabinoids found in marijuana. THC is psychoactive, causing the "high" associated with marijuana use. CBD is non-psychoactive and has a calming effect. Aspies should choose high quality medical marijuana that has a high CBD to THC ratio. Use tinctures and edibles for long-lasting effects. Smoke or vaporize marijuana for a quick fix. Mix buds and leaf together to get more CBD's in your medicine.

This is very sad! Do not continue reading if you happen to be at a "low point"....

Not only because he had Aspergers, but for anyone. Reading this made me sick.

People all make mistakes, but a "Walk of Shame"... there is more compassion afforded to someone on death row... or towards a rabid animal who has killed a human...

I understand how work can become as Graham described.... "“He had indicated that he felt safe there. This is where his friends were, so he felt as though he lost all of that in one moment.”

I shop at Target. I'm thankful to those employees who have assisted me. But this practice should be put to an end...

it feels terrible though when your safe zones get ripped out from under you... when a calm place that you design becomes pure chaos due to negligent desires of others...

now nowhere feels calm, nothing quite safe... all alone in the black with.. the dog...

waiting... waiting... holding on tight and waiting for something to break and change...

falling... head over heals

endlessness as if ive been here all along... just pretending I was someone... somewhere else....
