Maybe I need to clarify a bit so there's no misunderstanding.

If I won the Ascent, I would definitely be using it.

I'm a senior veteran who is living on a fixed income (social security), and as such, I really have to watch my nickles and dimes. Not a lot of disposable income, so for me, the gift certificate, while again, VERY much appreciated, isn't going to work for me simply because I don't have the funds necessary to use it on the DV site. Wish I did, but I don't and is the reason that I suggested to DV that they offer it up to the next best haiku entry so that it could be put to good use by someone here in the FC community.

They should send Iwien a cheque for $ 100 .
The runner up is NOT out of $ 100 .
Just b/c you're on a ' fixed income ' , doesn't mean you can't participate and win .

Still have not tried using the oil can as a spacer and a removable bowl? can you please give that a shot?

Thanks a bunch for the thought, poonman, but the only reason that I mentioned what I did above was to clarify to the comment that 11eleven made as to "why" I wouldn't be using it. I just didn't want to look like I was ungrateful.

I'm really not looking for a handout here from any FC member. Whoever DV decides to give it to should not feel obligated to send me anything. I just participated in the Haiku contest for two reasons. One, is that it was really fun thinking about how to put together a good Haiku. Didn't even know what a Haiku was until they were posted up here. The other reason is that I really wanted to try out an Ascent. So............while I didn't win the Ascent, I really did enjoy coming up with those Haiku's, so in that sense, I did participate and had a lot of fun doing it.

You make very high quality professional vids .:clap:
But ,
This is my biggest pet peeve with the other's ' fancy edited ' vids .
They DON'T show the actual unit being inhaled from , ( or they just show the exhales ) .

I know you have an Ascent , so I'm not doubting you . ( but it could have been a Solo or Pax ) .
Kinda like the Sublimator vids , But much much shorter . ( they could have used some editing )
But 1 full on shot from loading it to dumping out the ABV ... if you can .

And ya , reviews on budda/w ( Broken record )

The Ascent is looking good ,

vaporito...I won't try that as the glass can takes up the entire basket and does not have any holes on the bottom. I'm not sure how they achieve airflow with the oil cans. I'm still working a reclaim that I hope will give me something to put in the oil can.

Hey sticks, any concern that the cotton that you are using is acting like a filter of sorts and trapping some of the goodies?

So did we get a final word on the metal screens? Would you guys recommend using those? Is it hard to put in and take out?

Stickstones, good point about the holes in the oil jar.... In any case it sounds like cotton is the perfect solution to graduate the amount of grind!


I also like the idea of a glass ball to take up space. Or how about a folded up screen to bring up the bottom of the oven up and still have airflow?

Although personally, I think the cotton is the perfect solution. And maybe not a sandwich but only a bottom layer, so as not to trap the active ingredients....

does it work good at low temps like 365-380.? i prefer lower temps usually. how much does it smell if you leave a half vaped bowl in it for later?

Since everyone is complaining about the bowl size can one of the reviews load up a few different popular vapes then dump the fresh load on a piece of paper, label which vape it is so people can have a visual of the load. I don't mind the big size but I think that visual instead of weight will help a lot of people. TIA.

the pax still works tho with smaller loads. just turn the heat up a little more. its not as good as with big loads but if works. if the ascent does better with with this than the pax like someone said earlier, it should be fine.

After i get an ascent I plan on using my dremel skills to pop a few holes in the bottom of an oil can (very carefully) to see if it'll work as a reducer for smaller loads. I'm sure the temp will have to be cranked to make up for the added wall thickness in the heating chamber, but it should work in a pinch for a pinch!

I think slightly described the size perfect and def makes me feel they chose a size that works for most.
He said smaller than pax but bigger than inhalater which I think is right for me. No way they can please everyone.
Hole in bottom of oil can I find interesting? You could also just place sone herb in oil can without the top andd have like a small
Pax oven and also put lid back for small travel amounts.

If this works well, we could always ask DaVinci to look into offering glass "reducers" that already have holes.
