Hello, let's add some useful info to the gibberish
Here's a badly shot usage video for you guys, but hey, it's something. Nika is vaping mint in the Ascent Vaporizer.
FYI- I will likely take this down in a few days because I'm really not happy with it, but wanted to share.
There was awesome vapor production,no doubt about it. But when the unit was opened there was noticeable vapor coming out.The convection/conduction debate drives me nuts. From the video the Ascent looks like it has awesome vapor production and is very easy to use. What more could you want?

maybe the mint is very easy to combust and this is the explain for the puff of vapor in the video.

Lol! Nice didn't even think about that!...I don't think that was mint...
Do you think the herb is just sitting on a hot surface like food in a frying pan, while you just suck the vapor that rises from the part of the herb that's contacting the hot metal? That's the old (and crappy) conduction design that cheap dome vapes use, and what you're wondering about being the dominant effect here. These days any decent design includes convection- a hot stream of air going through the herb. I don't think it's practical to avoid all conduction effect in a pocket portable. Your bowl would have to be heat resistant, lowering the efficiency of the design, and even then there would be ambiant heat in a more or less sealed unit. I'm wondering what pocket portable design DOESN'T have some conduction heating going on.Vapzilla said:Looks like alot of conduction going on there. I'd like some clarification on the air flow over the heater.
Is there any convection happening?
It doesn't have a latch but it surely clicks into place when closed to some degree, preventing an accidental bump/knock from opening it.Mango Jive said:Does anyone know how/if the swiveling bowl locks in place? To prevent any accidental swiveling or vapor leakage during use
