No doubt, deez! You all have been extremely helpful, and I can't tell you how much I appreciate it. I think if I hadn't had the community here to kind of nudge me along the way, I might have given up in that first week and decided something was wrong with my zap rather than working through it realizing the problem was my own methods. It also makes me wonder whether people with adjustable heat units are amping up the temps too high rather than finessing the herb and altering the methods. It's astounding to me how much of a difference preparation and practice can make!

Thats the message we try to preach with the Zap! If you are willing to learn, you surely can and will with the right help(like here on FC, which is why i recommend it so highly for people especially vapor noobs).

I told Rick that if I were giving advice to a fellow new user of the CRZ, I would tell them to be patient and recognize that this little unit requires finesse to get her tuned in just right. And those are the ones that we usually end up loving the most.

I get emails from people asking about the Zap, and I've often told them that this vape takes patience. It's not for everyone. There are those who do not want to take the time to learn. Too bad for them, I say! More Zaps for us.

I read your comments about a learning curve and all, and I have to wonder how different are the RZ and UD from the PD? I've been using my PD for about a year now, and love it. I'd like to get either an UD or RZ, in the near future. Suggestions and reasons, please. I've read all 3 of their respective threads, as well as the SOLO (I have an M105), and am still learning.

i was using a PD before i got my first RZ, needless to say the ceramic rockzap is a hell of a lot better. A cleaner taste because of a cleaner air path, and a good bit hotter. I put a lot less strain on my lungs and throat when using the CRZ compared to the PD. The PD also has a thinner heatport opening, thus it has less airflow.

My PD can heat oils just fine though, and i have nothing against the PD really, the CRZ just works better in a lot of areas for vaporizing herbs.

However, you must keep in mind that you can not get a new purple days anymore. you can buy a brand new Zap.

The new "family addition" arrived yesterday - what a stunning piece, Rick! I have got to find a camera to get some pix up here, as the website pictures just don't do her justice. The Ambrosia Maple has so much contrast that we spent some time just looking at her yesterday (as she was warming up).

Would have posted something yesterday evening, but I must add she's beautiful and functional. So I needed to get a little rest before I could put anything coherent in writing.

beach bum, glad your order arrived Saturday. It must be time for some USPS praise. The orders shipped on the day yours shipped, Thursday, were taken out between snow plowings in our sons 4 wheel drive Jeep. Had to go that way as the one mile trek to the mailbox was impossible without all 4 wheels churning. Our lolly gaggee winter is over in the Northwest. Yesterday it was the ATV that got me out to the highway. No car, no way. We have 1/2 mile of our road to keep clear and then 1/2 mile of county road that sometimes gets plowed to get to the mail boxes. It really is amazing to me that something sent out on a very wintery Pacific Northwest Thursday afternoon will be delivered on Saturday, even to opposite corners of this great country. The ones I took out yesterday should be there Monday. Maximum charge, for what we ship, is $10.50. I do have to say, USPS has alot to do with our customer satisfaction. I even checked seven Thursday shipped packages yesterday in just a few minutes through our shipping software, Endicia. Every one of them said the same......."out for delivery"...........
Shipped some more stuff out yesterday and will get the shipping notices out in a bit. After I got back in from the mailboxes it was a day off from Zapville and everything else. Stayed in the warm house with my love and watched old movies. I don't do that often but with another 'snowed in' day, all kids and grandkids gone, it was a no-brainer.
I'll do some catch up work this morning on the website, then out for the rest of the day in the shop.
I do want to announce that we will include a few screens and a clip or two WITH ANY ORDER THAT HAS A STEM IN THE ORDER. We will also do this with all the brass stems that have been going out of here like crazy. Ironic that we are selling RoHS lead free brass tipped stems to PD owners but hey, we'll take it. All vapor stem tips and Tooty tips, SS or RoHS Brass now have the professional cut screens for a more bullet proof install. I will keep the screen kit up with the SS or Brass tip option but all new orders will have extra screens included with the order. We started that with yesterdays shipments.
cycleb, the CRZ is very close to the PD as far as log vapes go. The UD and TT are also options to consider if you want even hotter vapor. We like our vapor in the smooth mid to upper heat range and the CRZ does that.
I'll be contacting a couple of you today re your order. We had a crack get worser and a new one show up in another unit over the last couple days. Or maybe you will contact me as I get some new units up on the website this morning?

I might add for folks to envision they are a nug destined for the CRZ. How would you allow yourself to be ground for maximum hot air exposure in the stem tip? How would you like the hot air to sooth you for your transition into the human body to do your wonders? Slow and steady and smooth or a big rush, all at once, and you are gone, probably to be coughed out into the ambient air with little human interaction?
Kinda fun to space out now and then. My problem is finding the 'then' time.

We Just had our first snow of the season, needless to say i am not happy about this city snow. So I am procrastinating sending off my unit in need of repair.

On a side note: I just started to use a type of purified water in my glass when zappin, usually i used some bad bottled water around here, The taste difference is amazing. I dont taste all that tap water residue(I also now use this water as a rinse, a final rinse after its gotten its last fill of tap. and then i pour more in for use) anymore! [The tap water here in nyc is very hard, it also is fluoridated ]
That, along with using a certain type of soap as a post wash after using my Grunge Off soaking solution, I am noticing cleaner glass and less mineral buildup. I am so happy about this because as long as i have used glass water pipes i have had a lot of problems with hard water stains/mineral buildup, and that is finally all coming to an end! Here's another lesson learned: I finished my drier herbs last night, so I had to break into some that is still curing. I ground it up just right, but I couldn't get anything out of it. It was like sucking through cotton. So I gave up and left the herbs in the grinder. After one night in the grinder, the herbs are dry enough that I am getting nice, milky hits that are destroying me. So if your herbs are a little moist, some grind and dry could do the trick.

yup being dry enough is a big one! its night n day the difference it makes. herb thats too moist wont give you any vapor! but once its dried and ground, BAM! you got milky clouds

I need a couple stems for the Zap I got 2 Xmas's ago (or was it 3? ;-D). My vaping time is pretty much equally divided between my LaunchBox portable and my MZ desktop unit. Love both but the MZ is my "home base" favorite! Most of the time I use it with a bong and food grade tubing. Am tempted to get one of the new models but my budget isn't quite up to it.

What I do need though are a couple extra stems. Is there a discount code for buying stems?

happy to say my health problems are about 75% behind me, strep throat and laryngitis at the same time sucks the major big one. but i'm back zapping now and loving it..loving the new models very sexy.. anyone one else experience heartburn when they vape? oh anyone know if the underdog glass stems will fit the crz very curious about that...

No heartburn here, though i do have quite a problem with acid reflux. vaping can help that a little but generally doesnt seem to do a lot to it either way.

I believe that cannabis relaxes the LES(lower esophageal sphincter) which could contribute to causing some temporary relux/heartburn. Maybe you have been vapin large amounts after eating a large meal?

i know vitolo has some UD stems that somehow fit the new zaps but i dont know anything about it.

GERD is exactly what i am dealing with.. been singing for my supper lately so that contributed to the vocal cord damage but i never ever had GERD before. and this all hit a week after i got my zap thank god i can vape now just dealing with this GERD seems worse from the stem too but i dont care it taste so good

I suffer from the same but on a daily basis. it gets quite bad.

Zap stems are tasty. The reflux has a lot to do with the foods you eat and what you drink as well. some things seriously upset me, like things that produce more stomach acid. changes in diet could have to do with it, funky..

yeah i know i'm getting OLD .... i have found some relief in chewing gum.. which i hate to do.. i was using that and lemon and honey to get me through a session(studio session) and i found it helped with GERD i know the zap didn't cause it i was just bummed about not being able to use it funny thing is i could smoke just fine although it tasted like shit.

funky, I'm glad to hear you are feeling better. I, also, do not believe your vaping has anything to do with your GERD. I suffer from it too and have for years. Heredity, diet, etc. are the causes. I'm on Prilosec OTC daily for life (dr's orders). That helps immensely.

The tubes Vito has, I believe, are from Alan (TT and HI), not the UD. I have several and they do fit the CRZ and the MZs. Silicone isn't my thing though; I much prefer the SS and brass tips.

Thanks mom like I said i,m about 75% right now I'm find that if I sip lightly on the stem rather than draw it relieves some of the pressure of the gerd, vapor bonging helps too but its apiain in da arse.without the gong compared to the stem. My new fav past time is to sit with a fladhlight and blow clouds..

Yes, life is the book of changes. The chips are fly'n again at Zapville. Our wood turning teacher/mentor has decided to pursue other interests so I will be doing all the turning from now on. Some of you may remember that as the CRZ developed, we had a second person doing the turning initially. That has now changed. Now you get simple Rick. I spent some time in the shop yesterday doing re-turns. These are units that for one reason or another did not move off the shelf. Some had color, some had black lines, many had too much wood. So I took them down to a more simple log shape and maybe a slight curve or two. These are mostly little as you can see in the PBR pic and the old Zap shot.
I guess you might call it the return of the original Aromazap, completely re-designed(CRZ) and smaller with a professionally built solid stainless steel heatport.
Here are the 7 I re-turned.

Two little logs and a PBR

And two little logs with an old standard size MyrtleZap

These little logs are running 1 3/4" to 1 7/8" in diameter and 3 3/4" or so in height.
Once I got back into sucking sawdust and watching chips fly with good results, it all started coming back, including the excitement of being the creator of the final piece, even if they are kind of plain. These are finished with ZaPolish only and buffed on the lathe so the shine is not yet as brilliant as it will be with some good hand jobs.
Our thanks to a fine teacher of modern wood turning skills. Your special way with wood and much else has taught me many things and will continue to do so for the duration. Thank you for so much that you have given from your heart.
