I am one of the many who purchased a log vape over the past few months and I am kicking myself now that the superior product in what appears every aspect has so soon been created in the same vain.

Bummed about my purchase timing, though excited that it's all happening with or without me for the moment.

Irie, I wouldn't be to bummed out over purchasing one of the standard log vapes. Though the new Rockzaps are definitely very cool, the differences pretty much amount to heat and improved durability. As others have mentioned, if you want a hotter hit out of your old vape a coozy or 13v power adapter can achieve similar results. And when talking about durability with log vapes... well, lets just say that you won't have to worry about that

OK, we have the GonG tapered short stems up but they are hidden in the accessories section. That will be fixed soon by one of my heros. Another example of Ricky thinking he could do anything now on the website and he fucked it up, just a little though. They are a little higher than regular stems because we have more labor into them.
Wooden stems going up tomorrow. We have some on hand and will be getting more soon as the production process is 99% finalized. Conforming the mouth end swedge in the SS to the wood properly was a challenge. Making them was not a problem. The real test was consistent high quality at the human end of the stem. keyword=was
We will have something up by the end of the week on retrofits. Just picked up a couple new tools today that will make the job a little easier.
Did I say fun?
We have more beautiful smooth Black Walnuts going up tomorrow and a special treat in the Primo category. Some new stuff too for the Reg and Grab Bag.
One of our new lines will be Oak. This is very special, very old Oak wood that has been used in industry, storing pipe for many decades. Thanks to 'Progress', this special oak wood was scrapped and most likely replaced with plastic. The 3" square cants were sold at auction and loaded on the Zapville train. Oak could not be used to make a log vape in the past because it is too dense for the traditional log vape wood insulated design. The log vape would run too cool. That was before RockZap.
The First Three Oak Girls, front and rear.

Known to be a bit of a wine snob and one stoney night having a chat with my grrl about what trees we would be if we were infact a tree...
.... without hessitation she looked at me and decided I would be an oak tree :D
More beauties from the zapman, keep that locomotive chugging full steam ahead brother Rick!

I haven't been on here for a while... I still love my MZ to death ;) Rick sells an awesome product. Since buying my MZ I've purchased an SSV, which has become my daily driver, but it's a herb hog. Ever since I got the SSV, I go through weed so much faster than when I was just using my MZ, even though I usually vaped about three stems out of the MZ at a time. But for a wake-and-bake-before-work session and a before-bed session, and for the incredibly small amounts of herb it uses, the MZ can't be beat.

And just to offer some porn, I just finished polishing my MZ:

It's taken a few falls, due to the cord being right near where I step out of bed and move around, but she's still kickin' and just as beautiful as the day I got her :)

Yeah like someone drug a rake through waves of satin, very nice.

The zap is definitely an irreplaceable bedside companion, a very essential nightstand accessory

Wow, I've been out of town for a couple days and looks what happens around here! Nice new RZ's Rick! And I'm real excited about the new stems. I'll definitely be adding one of those when I order "the one." :D

onox, that's a real nice "old classic" Zap. I just love the grain that myrtle has. Yours has some lovely myrtle waves.

SleepyHead, thanks for the offer of helping with our signature pics. I'll definitely be taking you up on that real soon. I'm sure I'm not the only one. ;)

onox, very nice old MZ. There is a name for that grain pattern that escapes me at the moment. Thanks for putting the pic up.
Gobrian, good to hear you are mastering the flow. Remember you can always tweak it a bit more, no matter where you are at. Some folks discover one little change after several weeks of use that improves the performance of these types of vapes.
reese, it is old Oak, that is all we know. Some of the oaks have a small amount of this or that color applied, then mostly sanded out which will accentuate the deeper grain cavities.
I'll be getting wooden stems up later in the day is the plan anyway. Also some Oak and other stuff on the website.

Here is another piece of scrap. Part of an Incense Cedar BUSH thrown in a burn pile before we found it.
10-4rollout005.jpg

we have a matching stem for it too.
This is a nice smooth shaped POPLAR wood.

Thanks. When I saw Oak I immediately got nostalgic for the live oaks back home. I spent a lot of time at one in particular. Hangin' with friends, drinking, getting high. Many times just....being...

I just received Wally and she rocks! (I'm going to keep that name for this walnut beauty).

I have things to do today but tonight I'll test it (plugged in now, warming up all day) and snap some pictures.

I was slightly surprised on how the stems fit loosely, but I've found this to be normal after researching. Shouldn't be an issue.

Regarding the Tooty, the difference only lies within the silicone being high heat in the revised version?

The 1" piece of wood must just be for packing the stems, or is there another use?

I'm excited for a wooden stem, and probably a GONG stem. I use 18mm though so I might need an adapter - is that correct?

Thanks in advance, I apologize for being a noob. That oak looks great BTW, I've always been a fan of oak.

Edit, ahh that's the question I forgot. You can't vape hash in this can you? (dense black hash, from afghan)

you can, but you'll want to be careful because the hash could gunk up the built-in screen in the zap. i vape the goo i get from my stem cleaning and abv QWISO in the zap by loadin a small amount of herb, and then putting a ball of goo in on top of it. make sure it doesnt fill the step all the way to the tip or block the airflow through the stem. then just make sure to never hold your zap upright while the stems in there, keep it bottoms up, so that goo/hash/whatever doesnt fall down onto the zap screen and melt into it. I find it takes a couple hits to get the stuff going but it does go for quite a while. TBH tho, i still prefer a vape like the ssv for hash. but since i never have access to hash its not a big deal that i no longer own one.

and yeah the wooden peg is for packing, i dont think you'll need it tho. as long as herb is dry and finely ground enough, just sucking it up should pack it in enough. if you have really loose fluffy or moist herb that doesnt grind well i suppose you could use it tho.

That's curl in Onox's piece right Rick, its a beauty as are all these that people are posting. I also think that Oak you have been referring to is Red Oak, I have worked it quite a few times and it looks like it has the characteristics of that species, I really dig the grain pattern when it has been turned, its a trip you can actually blow air through one end of a blank to the other due to the wild grain structure. Everyone that is getting these has got to be really happy they did.

Ed, just put in the order for the oak zap on the right, I think Im going to be very happy with it. :D That amboyna burl stem you made is still unreal looking.

Rick, cant wait to try the new rock zap design. I am having a problem with my myrtle zap though. The part where you insert the stem is completely loose and just falls into the body of the zap. You can hold it upside down and it falls back into place where it should be, but obviously doesnt stay there when put right-side up. Any way to fix this?

Nebera,

Nebera, you bet we will fix your old Zap. Email me for info and our address. Thanks for the first Oak RZ order. I'll throw in a complimentary prototype wood stem for being so quick on the Oak draw.
Having a little.......oops!...... WAS having a little trouble with images on the website but it looks like it has been magically fixed. Now I can get back to putting our wood on display and get some stems up.
Still back ordered on the proper sized glass for our Tootys. An order did not get shipped......somebody got pissed...not me. I learned long ago getting pissed over lots of stuff is a big waste of time.

Just put the cedar up. The product page shows the stem that comes with it.

I had this problem at one point, but Rick fixed it and it looked even better. I remember he even rubbed my zap down with wax before sending her back, and boy did she look good.

I heat hash, with a match... and crumble it.. (fluff it).. and sandwich a small amount in the stem after sucking in a touch of herb. It works well if you loosen the hash. (heat helps hash loosen without breaking up).
Ahhhh but you said afghan hash... shit... you better send that to Vitolo's hashish consumption evaluation service!

Hi Everyone, I'm going to say I'm sorry in advance for the whining and complaining that you are about to read. I've been lurking around on FC for a long time now and finally decided to pull the trigger and get my first vape after I got off work today. I was planning on getting the maple Zap named "Shirley", she is so nice and simple and not overly flashy just like my dearly departed mother of the same name (R.I.P. mom). The name spoke to me and just begged for me to have it but unfortunately I lost my job today and wont be able to have her after all. Along with all my ailments I also have hypoglycemia (low blood sugar) and today at work my sugar dropped like a rock and I needed food ASAP so I went to the break room to get a snack and my supervisor (who sits on his a$$ next to the break room)told me to leave and not come back. He said that me leaving the production line without it being lunch time was considered job abandonment. Now due to today's events I will have to watch someone else eventually become her owner. Sorry again everyone I just needed to vent a little.

Rick, I've been following the evolution going on in Zapville and just wanted you to know they are beautiful and i hope to one day soon be able to have one for myself.

im just curious, whats the advantage to sandwiching kief/hash instead of just sucking it up at the end?

since hash usually needs higher temp to properly vape, wouldn't it work better if it was directly getting hit by the air flow?

SD_haze,

Vitolo

you provide a bed.. to keep the kief/hashecrumbles away from the stems screen... thereby avoiding some sticking , melting, or going through.. and the sandwich (last suck of herb that I put in after the hash sometimes).. is if it is very powdery... so none falls out before the heat from the draw... glues it in place!

Vitolo,

wildkfx, send me an Email. Maybe we can work something out. Sorry to hear about the job. That world must be crazy. We are so thankful we get to make our own job and do not have to put up with the bullshit from 'supervisors'. Zaplady may not totally agree with that since I do most of the supervising around here.
Here is a shot of what we call 'Flaming Cedar' and the matching stem that comes with her. Lots of hand sanding on this one.
