Ah, thanks mom, you just covered him. It is correct the new units need very little extra finish. You can also try buffing them with a soft rag or a soft buffing wheel on a portable drill. I watched one of those Sumos go from incredible to spectacular just with a buffing wheel on an 8 inch grinder. Soft friction shines them nicely. That finish requires friction/heat to set it properly and extra buffing/friction/heat will always shine it up a bit more.
BTW, treecity, we are also happy to hear you got the vapor flow down good. Slower pulls and also a slightly, slightly tighter pack will balance out the slightly larger step tip size by slowing the air through the stem tip contents. The flow of heated air through the stem tip contents can be varied in many ways. We have not mentioned the grind here but that will change the flow also.
SF Giant and all you other glass junkies, we will be getting some shorter stems with a GonG taper on the suck end soon. Shorter and fit better. We will also try another little product out on you soon. Very simple and very effective, The RockZap MiniWhip. I'll be working on improving the design just a little in the days ahead.
Speaking of the days ahead, we could have a major slowdown next week, maybe not. I have Jury Duty for the week. Could be I get out of it, maybe not. That will slow some shipping but everything ordered to date will ship tomorrow or Monday. Even if I do get to serve, we will still keep everything rolling but it could be an uphill grade for the Zap Train next week.
//////, we have you covered. A very easy special request will get done on that sweet RZ. I like that smooth shape. Many of our pics do not show the grain properly. All of our RZs have nice wood grain. Some of them..........well.....words cannot describe. Thanks for the order, BTW.
SirElton, great pics and review. The side by side shots give folks a better idea how small these little Locomotives really are. Like gunky said, more like a Motorcycle grip. Maybe a small juice can? Lighter than old Zaps too. Thank you for the show. Good job.
Gobrian, glad to hear you too have found the flow.
NYC, thanks for all your help in so many ways. Log vapes are special and new users need nurturing.
All of you help so much and save me lots of time trying to explain. You also do a better job of it than I do.
mom..............you know...........
One of the fun things about the RZs is their performance consistency. This is the log vape for everyone as it is so easy to make the thing work. So far I have replaced one RZ for less than par performance. We got it back yesterday and I will examine it this afternoon. I have a suspicion that it is something very simple and easily fixable.

Yes, we will have some more 'stuff' tonight/tomorrow AM. Not sure what it will be but I will say this. The Zapville crew is watching this movie closely. We are figuring out what the favorites seem to be and we will try our best to keep those favorites coming. In some cases, The Master Flow has given us a limited supply of the very special stuff but at the same time has opened other doors to many different woods.

Like a good movie that just keeps chugging along but keeps us interested all the way. Sorry to brag a little but we are going through some very serious mind blowing days and weeks here. LOTS of changes needed for us to keep OUR belly to the bar. Tomorrow is two weeks from RZ roll out. It has been more better than any dream I could have ever had. (Take that, Mr Ambrosi, my 7th/8th grade English teacher with the big old oak paddle that had holes drilled in the action end for no air resistance at the connection to the smartass ass.)

Rick, this is the best movie I have ever seen! It's like The Godfather meets Shawshank meets Citizen Kane. Epic and gripping...and I can watch it over, and over, and over... :D You're blowing us away out here!

Thanks for helping us glass-heads out.
To all us glass users: Ive always wondered if one could fuse a shortened stem and a 18-14mm GonG reducer. Has this idea been circulated in the PD or other log threads? Is is even possible? Does NYC already have one ;) ?

Alas I do not

but Ricks new special for the glass heads should be a treat! just when i was wondering about getting a short ss stem for my rockzap :p

on a side note, my PDs stems fit into my cherry SSS, which was before the size of the stems changed, and i have a very short 'whip ripper' stem from my PD that works real well with water pieces.

Glad the pictures helped, i put them up for users like you!

have a great Zappy day everyone :peace:

Nycdeisel,

the ob

all good in the hood.
hi all,
I am out for a bit and when I get back, I should have some interesting pics to post. Look for them monday or maybe a little later depending on USPS. I also do not want to brag, but they should be good ones!

On another non-RZ related note, I made the idiotic mistake of attempting to perform Queens "Fat Bottom Girls" last night with a live band as part of a wedding celebration weekend in Austin TX.

Not a good idea to try to emulate on of the greatest voices in the history of rock and roll.

happy to report I rocked it. I am not saying I sounded amazing, but what I lack in talent, I make up for in enthusiasm :)

yes, there is video.

have a great weekend everyone!

So ob.... you gonna post up that video in the Vapor Spam or Videos to Watch When Vaked sections? I for one would enjoy it immensely!

edit to add:
Rick used to make short stems for glass use back in the "brass days." I think this new version with a taper sounds even better. I'm looking forward to checking it out myself.

kewpcer,
eww is that a socket? You should just look into silicone to go around the stem to get a better air to vapor ratio

It so nice to see folks taking a working concept and after years of use and seeing what might need tending to over time and redisgning the heat exchanger with ceramic ,And I do believe you did it. Since it seems that depending on use and handling the inner core of the wood being subjected to the high heat I gather tends to wear and you go and make first the concrete zap then use ceramic to make it even better but you are still using the rockzap name for it? How about the PorcelainZap. Since porcelain is simply ceramics heated to a higher temp if I recall around 1200'deg F.
Porcelain I think after seeing the smooth shiney finish on your new ones seems to fit very much.

But I am now subscribed to this thread and will be keeping updated to see the latest info.

PS
Nice job Rick

Hey all.
Too late getting done with the days work to go out and take pics tonight. I'll have something to look at around mid morning tomorrow. Some really nice pieces, nothing too fancy.
Thanks for hooking up to our thread, PurpleDazed. We like the name RockZap. Short and to the point, Solid as a Rock.
Back manana.

Same here that eye is so trippy, that is sumo correct?. Its always a mad dash to view the store front at the right time. I can't tell have the bottom of the unit is finished.

One Sumo in there and there will be a few more to come. Getting some beautiful grain smooth walnuts too. An English walnut "out on a limb"
I'll do individual pics after I get a done shipping for the day, early afternoon.
Those were not so good pics for sure.
