So ... you want some Water with your Zap, do you?
Check the link. You can get that same 10"pedestal bong with a 2.25 inch 14m downstem easily for under 50.
They sell in local headshops for around 40, and I have sent some to friends for 48.50 after shipping!

Not to blow the buzz kill but I just got off the phone before reading your post. The Ceramic blanket we use is a relatively new product. Alcoa is now using the product primarily because it passes all California Hazardous Material specs relative to ceramic insulating blankets and particulate release. I do not yet have the spec sheet but should by tomorrow.

That is one of the many great things about raw materials available in todays world. Manufacturers are constantly improving them so they can sell Globally and to states like California with the most stringent product safety requirements.

The person helping me, besides everything else he is doing for us, is very big on product safety for many reasons.

Kinda funny in a way for anyone to believe we would be following ANY kind of hazardous path after what we have been through on FC the last couple years.
Not trying to dogpile on you or anything but is this blanket material designed to be in such close proximity to something that you directly draw air from? Or is it meant to be wrapped around your water heater or whatnot in the closet? Just an honest question as there are lots of materials that pass the cali hazardous materials specs that i wouldnt want on or near something i was inhaling from

Vapor genie has a ceramic puck as a part of the airpath, and food grad ceramics abound. The main concern isn't the material, but the form factor. Does it have to be fibrous ceramic?

Damn you guys pay through the nose (is that even an expression? it sounded right in my head) for glass in the US! My beaker (of roughly equal size) was $25 with a diffused downstem, ice picks, and a showerhead perc.

This product is sealed in some way on the surface. It has a smooth, non fibrous or pourous surface, not at all like ceramic insulation we have seen in the past.
We are doing our best to consider all safety concerns of any product we make. That was the main reason we added the SS closed bottom to our SS heatport assembly, originally done by Alan who makes the Toasty Top. An excellent idea originally to eliminate the concerns some may have of inhaling wood char and wood particles through the heatport assembly. The old open bottom heatport design leaves a small area not protected from the vapor airflow by Stainless Steel.
Then there is the area where the ceramic blanket is mounted. It is also sealed from any outer or inner exposure.
We have to draw lines somewhere. I know from experience that we will not be able to please everybody out there, no matter what we do. That's OK with us. That is life in the business world. We will do our best as always to insure we make a safe product.

Coupon code for a discount at the website is shown in my signature now. The discount(6.5%) will bring the price of a complete traditional wood insulated Zap with all SS airflow, including vapor stems, to less than $154 total delivered price. These traditional logs also have some lathework on the top of the units to smooth out the lines. Delivery should also be quicker if all goes as planned.

Thanks for the credit on the bottom stainless washer Rick. That combined with the glass beads to insulate the heating element wires has given you a more pure air path. No more charred wood from hot wires. Now with the blanket and you have eliminated any high temperature surfaces from contacting wood.

Any issue with inhalation hazard would be from broken fibers. As long as the fibers remain unbroken and sealed between the stainless steel and wood, there should be no issue. If there are no fibers at all, even better. Can't wait to see a prototype.

ok, my unit is way more broken in :brow:
deer god I will in fact be buying one when the ceramic model is released, it's just a treat to use

Also, Rick I did suggest that you keep the rockzap name during the contest

As far as using in conjunction with water tools, I had put just like 1" of silicone tubing on the tip to seal it when inserted, is this similar to the methods you guys are using?

I used tubing to help folks that said the hit was too hot.. and I added a borasilicate mouthpiece with restriced flow, to give a stronger draw at the business end, for people that had trouble learning....
but the Zap stems fir perfectly into a 14m downstem just as they are!

Is that the SSV mouthpiece? I put almost a foot of tubing on the end of mine for gentler hits, same as I do with my No2... loving it.
I've been using an 18mm downstem, I'll have to try them naked with my 14mm rig

@rick You guys planning on locking that ceramic wrap between those fancy squirt-cut rings you were showing off last week? I think I'm getting my head around this now.

There is actually more. We have welded stainless steel 'wings'(larger washers) to the top and the bottom of the heatport to encase the insulating wrap at the top and bottom with SS and center the heatport in the wood. So below the top ceramic ring is a full size SS flat washer, all the way out to the wood and the same at the bottom.(Bottom would have the SS washer above the ceramic insulating ring).
The insulating blanket is completely enclosed between Stainless Steel and wood. It does not touch the ceramic top and bottom insulators.

First two beta RockZaps out today. SS tips with them even. Parts will be in tomorrow for more which will ship no later than Wednesday.

for ppl looking for small glass like in Vitos video...

check teh 250ml EHLE's on everyonedoesit.com

i and many other users have them and love them.

also there is a company that makes a travel size pipe, stone glass works? soul shine glass? used to be on etsy for 50$ish

i only use my zap with my EHLE. the 14mm join works beautifully with the standard stems.

i just sent my unit out for repair today, i cant wait to get her back. I might have bought my last bag and I want to spend time with my zap seeing as it was my real first vape. damn job searches :(

There is alot out there if you know how to surf... and locally too.
Nobody should pay more than 50 bucks unless they are a glass enthusiast..
or like Deez the Queen of Glass....
A well deserved title, as she is immaculate!

As soon as your price range starts creeping up you are doomed!
It took a matter of months and I went from spending a maximum of $40 on glass to $400. But my zap loves them all!

Rick I asked this once before but you may have missed it, are you planning on offering any exotic woods or will we be left to our own devices on getting them to you?

We do plan on 'exotic' woods. Our 'exotic' may not be everyone's but they will be nice with plenty of burl. I have some sweet very dry pieces just waiting for my trickery. We will try to get some pics up this week. I finally have a little space to get some fun work time in. All this stuff takes time as there are so many different bases to cover with all the changes. We are Turtles and always have been..
First time in ten years I have ordered pre-cut screens, another labor saver. I will have enough 1/4 screens for all the log vape makers and Ed if anyone is interested. I have always used 1/4" SS screens for the stems and they still work perfectly on the new SS vapor stem tips. Ours are 40 mesh. Punching your own takes time and with me anyway, there are a good number of rejects. The punch tooling gets dull and tears the screens often. Then my eyes are not as good as they used to be. These will all be perfect 1/4 inch rounds. Also great for easier install.

That's clever adding the washer wings to it. You mentioned that they seal in nice when you warm the piece up the first time.

My RockZap1 has become a dodo bird.

And you could do all us RZ1 owners a solid and press us in a ceramic (or granite. skeet) ring in to seal up our units? I'm runnin out of butter man :p

I'd lay a $20 on ya brotha :brow:
