Man I hope this isn't a widespread issue 😐 I purchased the solo 3 as a treat to myself for completing chemotherapy, if it turns out the solo 3 doesn't have an isolated airpath I'm going to be extremely angry!

Honestly this or any other mass produced option is probably not what I would choose for medical purity... I would recommend checking out Ask FC for more better options in that regard? like more artisan driven...

Solo only developed what they referred to as an isolated air path in the Solo 2 originally? And I believe it was simply some sort of piece of foam or something that would just block the airflow, so it was not actually technically ever fully isolated in this sense?? A lot of devices are not fully truly isolated although the degree of potential effect could vary despite USB port air flow leaks, also debate over fresh air when intake isolation necessity, at least with Solo you have the glass stem chamber pathway system so the vapor can be better than others in that way

propably something like the terpsticle would be the purest option i believe. I agree a lot of devices are like this, but why? Why not really isolate it ? To cut on costs maybe?

I was not going to get into any suggestions because that is off topic here in the solo thread... I couldn't tell you why, but yes presumably expense, maybe disagreement over the necessary isolation degree and QC

Did they claim to be an isolated air path? I just looked at a tear down video and there's a big gasket but it doesn't look 100% air tight.

Also, if air passes by electronics, it's cold air, not warm. I don't see the issue. This seems like a relatively nothing burger to me.
I not aware if there is such claims, but seems like how it make sense to be, at least to me and alot other people. Yeah, but could easily been avoided, especailly since already there is an isolation attemp. Anyway its a good thing for people to know what there getting since alot think it got a "isolated" airpath and many will want to avoid it for that reason. Like s&b's products PEEK is considered safe and most dont care but a lot others stay away for that reason.

Yeah it's a common debate, is the air technically cold fresh air, if it is passing over potentially even slightly warm electronics that could off gas something or other?

Am I crazy for not really thinking this is a big deal? I kind of thought that happened either way lol. Hell doesn't the Mighty have an airpath that travels right through the body of the device?

You're not crazy, it's just personal preference, certainly the manufacturers think it's fine!

If most of you knew what you were exposed to every day, you would roll over and die. The whole isolated air path thing is a joke. You are taking in filthy air from the room, heating it up and blowing it over filthy weed into you or lungs so you can exhale into the filthy air in the room to do it again. If the circuit is outgassing you’ll be breathing it in anyway.

Some time ago was covering the usc c port of the solo 3 when holding it and noticed bigger clouds. After that tried to cover the usc port again and the same thing happened. So i tried a lot of time covreing the hole and using it like a hole on a pipe and had the same result over and over. Then as shown on the imgrl video, i took a tip of a rolling parer, placed it over the usb c port. when im pulling through the solo stem the paper comfirms that air coming through. So when taking a pull from the solo 3 the air gets in the decive from the usc port, passing throught the electronics until reaching the heater-oven. Thats bad !

So I guess the air path isn't as clean as we thought it was.

At least the vapor path is and will always be 100% glass.

I tried to reproduce this with my Solo and if any air is entering the USB-C port, it is too small for me to detect. I also blew (not really recommended) when I was getting clouds and the vapour only came out of the air inlet. I also tried holding my finger over the port and releasing it repeatedly while inhaling and could detect no change in airflow or clouds produced.

If you take a look at VapeGuy's teardown (first hit in Google for "solo 3 teardown", no affiliation) you can see the small rectangular air inlets for the oven and what looks to be seal/gasket below that.

I don't see how you would create enough of a vacuum to draw air in through the USB-C port and past the gasket. That seems to defy physics. Short of blocking the air inlet or a damaged gasket I fail to see how the original report is happening.

I don’t know, a little shrinkage from heat, or maybe a small dent or warp in the cover, or even a really tight grip, and cover the inlet holes, I think I could suck air through it. But generally, no. People on here like to panic, and this is another.

Personally, this has no influence on if a Solo 3 is my next vape.

Maybe not the oldest, but possibly the fartiest!
On my Solo3 V1 most of the airflow comes from the flower like port on the back of the device. If I plug that with my thumb and inhale or exhale through the mouthpiece, a small amount of air goes through the USB port, but very little. Most of the airflow is from the flower port. How the air gets from the flower port to the oven is a bit of a mystery since VapeGuy doesn't show a picture of the back side of the inside of the device.

Is it just me or the Vapor is much cooler in the 90mm xl stem than in the regular stems? Is it because of the bigger bowl or the 5th hole or both? Was using the long bent 3d stem from sneaky Pete and found the xl stem to be better at cooling. Trying to find the perfect setup to hit it natively without drying my mouth so much…
