Arizer Solo 3

old-fart

Maybe not the oldest, but possibly the fartiest!
old-fart,
$169 for a V1 seems like a good deal. Get it, verify it works, then do the free upgrade to V2 for the cost of shipping ($6), Deal!
I got the version 2 from them at a good price after shipping it was $204 for the 4/20 sale. Right now V2 is $280 from them so not as good as in the earlier sale

Back after a couple years. Looking to upgrade my first gen Arizer Air to a Solo 3 v2

What's the cheapest these things have sold for by the official Arizer site?
Lowest price allowed by Arizer for the V2 is $239.99 USD. At Pipe Puffin, we pick up our cases directly from the Arizer warehouse in Kitchener ON, so we can list it that low to pass the savings on to you.

Thanks, but there are multiple coupon codes currently available for the official Arizer store that brings the price down to the same as what you're selling it for, so I'd rather just buy direct.

$280 in Canada. $5 more than Arizer+coupon or PipePuffin

Does the Arizer Solo 3 have the same draw as an Arizer Solo 2? Or does the XL stem fix the milkshake like draw?

The XL aroma tube is noticeably less restrictive, especially when applying the 3/4ths rule with a medium-coarse grind.
Yes, the stock XL has five holes in the glass screen compared to 4 holes for the regular size. Personally I don't use the stock stems and bowls because glass screens just clog too easily. When I do use them I place a metal screen on top to keep the holes free from debris.

A better option is aftermarket "hi-flow" stems and WPAs that use metal screens from places like SneakyPete's and 420edc.com. There's much better airflow with these types of screens. The restriction in the Solo is largely dictated by the resistance in the stem and not the unit itself. Don't overpack the stems and use the hi-flow ones if you can then the draw is quite open.

Agree.
You can test the flow for any device/stem by just inserting the stem in inhaling (no herb). That will give you a baseline for draw restriction.

Also, you can "convert" a glass screen to a high flow by using a drill bit, a mallet, and gloves (for safety). I've done it to a few cheap WPAs and it's worked very well. See Lee's video (you can skip to 4 minutes in). Lee isn't wearing gloves, but I did.

Wait, one of the main reasons I want to upgrade from the Air to the Solo 3 is to move away from the "milkshake" draw.

Might have to go back to the drawing board.....

The milkshake draw always came from overtamping, which, in my experience usually occurs when using ground flower.

IMO these Arizer stem vapes are truly made to use unground herb.

I find the airflow problems and herb crumbs falling in the oven - the two biggest issues with these designs are easily avoided just by not grinding.

Might be a slower extraction but I reckon these were always meant to approximate a joint smoking experience anyways.
