I tried one of those bubbler straws, and all it did was get my weed wet. I like it because it was simple and portable, but besides wet weed, there is no way to clean it. Some of these water attachment you guys use would drive me nuts! How do you hide it? How do you clean it?

Sorry your experience was poor, but with a couple of minor technique changes both those issues are easily solved. The wet weed is because you've got it over filled. Try blowing water out 'both ends' after filling (leaving only what can be captured in the upper and lower traps). After doing so normal use will get no more water out.

Cleaning is not that tough either. I have a dishwasher so I attach a plastic funnel to mine and stand them up in the silverware tray when I run a load. 20 minutes of hot detergent, followed by the rinse cycle, leaves a squeaky clean bubbler nearly perfectly filled and ready to go.

Before I stumbled on 'the lazy man's solution' I'd put the dirty stem in a 'travel tube' (from PV) or one of the squeeze bottles you find Catsup and Mustard in in diners. Plastic, to avoid 'glass on glass' accidents. In goes a pinch of PBW and hot water maybe half way up:

PBW is a 'super detergent' made originally for Coors to clean out brewery equipment which just like here gets fouled with baked on 'hydrocarbon junk' in places you can get to to scrub. Inverting/gently shaking every 30 seconds or so gets the detergent inside and forces exchanges to aid in the washing. Between times I'd put it in a glass of hot tap water in the sink. Heat really helps. Then a rinse by hand (run water through it from the top and you're good to go. Watch out when taking it out, it's very slippery. I lost a stem that way before learning the lesson.

As in most such things, easiest if you 'keep after it', not letting fouling build up too much.

BTW PBW will do an amazing job of cleaning up that old bong from long ago you've been hiding. It's actually fun to watch. PBW uses 'Oxygen action' (one of it's components), tiny streams of bubbles rise from and eventually get under and float away junk that's been there a very very long time. I've done this a dozen times or more with friends bongs (sometimes it takes some prompting to get them to bring it out), they watch in amazement and giggle like school girls. Good times and they get an old friend back.

Also BTW a spoon of the stuff in the dishwasher from time to time wipes out the 'haze' of mineral deposits in the dishwasher (another of it's components so it'll work in the hardest water you can come up with). Pretty cool stuff, you can get it on Amazon or from your local 'home brewery shop'.

ISO and other solvents are much inferior, more expensive and not nearly as 'green'.

I just got an Air 2, and look forward to learning about the tricks to getting the most out of it. The things that made me decide on the Air 2 were, reputation, adjustable in 1 degree increments, simple menu and ease of use, the all glass vapor path, removable battery, and I like how it looks.

Unfortunately it came during a dry spell, but I was able to find a small bud to try it out. After a burn in at 428 for 15 minutes, I set it at 375 and let her rip. I enjoyed everything about my session.

So far, the only things I don't like about it are the fact that it can roll fairly easy. I think a quick stop at a craft store to see if the have any of those small stick on jewels in black or dark grey. I think 2 small ones placed on each side of the flat spot on the back will keep it from rolling and shouldn't harm anything if they need to be removed. The other thing is purely cosmetic, I bought the black one and PIU included some black stems which look great with it. What I hate is the silver part in the vents, if that was black it would look 1000% better.

Hey Guys & Gals of FC,

Last year about this time I purchaced the Air 2 as an early birthday present for myself. I have been using it almost daily, and it has already made it longer than my Crafty and Fury 2 (both of which broke in under a year).

The maintenance is very minimal and I feel good knowing that the device is made with quality materials and has an isolated air path.

I also take pride in the fact that this vape is not made in China and I am happy to support a Canadian company.

I built this from a cheap $10 ebay water pipe for use with my Magic Flight Launch Box. I used the glass skull, the stopper, and the mouth piece from the ebay pipe, the whip is from MF, the brass rings and the wood base and ring on the stopper are from Hobby Lobby. The brass rod was from the hobby store and the acrylic tube is from ebay. I made the tube with a cap on the bottom that removes for very easy cleaning, just above the cap I drilled 8 tiny holes for the diffuser. Lastly I added an LED to the base, to turn it on, you push down on the brass holder for the whip.

When it was made for the LB, the acrylic tube had a 80 degree bend and the LB plugged into it. To convert it for the Air 2, I removed the bent tube and made a straight one. I put this in a drill press and used a chisel to turn the rod down to fit the stem with the black plastic mouthpiece. The exposed threads don't look so good, I will have to see what I can do to cover them.

I was worrying about it being too top heavy and easily tipped over, but it's pretty stable. The best part, it works great!

I’ve had problems with three Air Two’s, and they have all been replaced with new units. This is a very generous solution to a problem I can’t understand. Why does the same thing keep happening? It’s still my favorite vape, and one of the best convection vapes available. Rolling is a big problem; I just quit buying longer stems as Injust kept breaking them. I like Mysterion’s solution.
Thanks to OF for introducing me to a new cleaning product. I may give the bubbler another shot.

The Anti Roll Mod

I found these self adhesive dots at Hobby Lobby to use to prevent the Air 2 from rolling if set on a hard surface. The smallest ones are about 3/16", the pack cost $3.

After a quick swab with some alcohol I stuck them on each side of the flat panel on the back of the unit. I tried to get it to roll and it won't. I'll report back after a while to let you know how well they hold up as I'm concerned that when the unit heats up it might weaken the adhesive on the dots.

More questions from a noob.

I have another battery and a charger coming. I noticed going from a MFLB which is on demand and manually activated, I'm setting the A2 down and forgetting it's on. I'm wasting a lot of battery, which brings me to my question.

With 2 batteries is is better to swap them after each use ( not each session, but when the unit shuts off due to low battery), or maybe each day, or does it not matter at all?

Could some explain the "Domed Screen" method I'm seeing mentioned,?

I also have an update on the Anti Roll dots. They don't stick to the body as well as i would like, they can be moved even after being on for a day. They don't come off, but if forced they will move. A simple nudge puts them back in place. A slight nuisance, but not a deal breaker.

Actually, for best 'battery' (it's really a cell, since there's only one......) life you should never completely discharge one nor fully charge it and let it sit (OK to fully charge and use immediately to enjoy a session leaving it say 80% charged?). Doing so, avoiding full and dead, can double, triple or even more the useful lifespan of each. Seriously. Good information on such stuff here:

Device makers, of course, want the longest possible run time that won't kill the 18650 off before the warranty expires......

Best advice for long life is never completely discharge or fully charge and allow to sit. Then again replacements are cheap enough so you can ignore this........but having it die before the session is done is not fun?

Those are much thicker wire, perfectly formed, with the edges fused so they keep their shape better. The same guy sells larger and smaller amounts, but 10 should last a very long time. The can be used 'dome up' to reduce the load volume to about half and speed up the production a bit (heat conducts away up the stem (where there's not a bottom heated surface anyway, so the top of the load is cooler and vapes later). You'll notice the bottom changes color first?

You can also use them 'dome down' where the volume isn't reduced much but doing so prevents the small ports in the stem from fouling so fast. You can go many more sessions between cleaning. While some guys soak the screens in ISO to recover condensate, you can also very easily 'flame' them clean. Hold them with tweezers or an old roach clip you shouldn't be using anyway and use a small torch type light to heat them until the SS mesh glows. Seriously, it won't hurt it and the remain ash can be brushed off or even blown away for quick reuse.

Your call, the BU article discusses it. Temperature of storage is a factor as well. I just avoid it? It takes days at reasonable temperatures to make much of a difference, but the risk is real. Something to be aware of.

Have you ever wondered why you always get such new cells (and the products they're in) at about 60 or 70% charged? Now you know why. Makers know this fact as well and don't want battery capacity being being destroyed 'on the shelf' before you get it.

air2 as dynavap heater?. notice the heater cover? if i can only make a high temp cover for that hole to
seal that opening and punch a hole in the middle the size of dynavap, and insert dynavap without the cap
