Per recommendation by @tennisguru1 I ordered a SAI quartz bucket coil and a Mole coil from HVT today so I can try the "tennisguru1 Motar Mod"

The Mole coil must have increased, was $7.99
Thanks tennisguru1!

Edit: Can't believe I just bought a bare metal coil!

I don't use plastic, :>)
I had many awesome clear vids, but UTUBE scratched them, :>(
I use SS Luber lock 12-13-14 ga & a tiny silicon gasket to slide it up & down in
height for Mole, Sai ect... My swirl created needs no carbibg action.

On the conversion to a bottom flow only Sai base, took the center pin of a
heat sync from 5 pack at FT
Replaced the Motar shorter one with Black & Silver ones from hear sync.

So you're using a (longer) center pin from a heat sink to replace the OEM center pin of the Motar.
I have several heat sinks in my FT cart, guess I better get those inbound asap. I also have a heat sink coming from HVT along with the coils, hopefully it's center pin will do the trick.

Confused on this: "conversion to bottom flow only Sai base" ...(sorry!)
Because we're using the Motar base (not the SAI base) and the Motar is top flow, unless I'm missing something?

ooppps my Bad, answering so many questions while totally smashed on 3 diff forums simo.. lol I meat it converts into a top air flow for only Ti/QC/Molesai combo coli.
No bottom air flow, but build up nice vacuum effect.
Now I did drill some holes in one as an experiment, lol :>)
Tell us all how it goes, as always be here to try and help if I can.

@tennisguru1 thanks for your help and sorry for all the questions.

I'm looking forward to attaching this setup to my recycler rig once I get some tubing. I had been looking at the Yocan "Torch" for doing that and had one on my short list, but it sounds like this may be a better setup.

I'm curious how the magic of this SAI Quartz bucket coil works (why its better?)...

Looking now at how it's heated (quartz insert over a ceramic skillet) I'm puzzled how the SAI bucket performs better than the OEM Motar one, since the Motar has the glow coil embedded directly on the glass. Seems like the construction of SAI's coil would be less efficient transferring heat to the cup.

Think I'll order one of the Motar coils anyhow, just for comparison.

Sure, whatcha got to lose lol, $7
Same coil, different air flow.
Easy, simple, TC well in 316L TFR
Mole in more to work with coils.
I use a 1/2 hole open top & 1 hole bottom
Motar top hits great , diff flow depends on straw depth

@tennisguru1 Thanks for the awesome reply! Great info and links!

So if I understand correct, you're using the genuine Longmada Motar coil-base + glass dome/stem with a SAI Ti bucket coil, and when you use the quartz cup you use it in the Ti coil assembly.

This is EXTREMELY useful information, So I can swap out my crap stock Motar coil with any SAI coil or the Mole coil! Sounds like a great upgrade for the Motar, and a way to try out the SAI coils without buying a whole SAI... Where did you get the longer brass pin?

You linked Stainless Luer tips, but your photo shows a plastic one, are you're actually now using the stainless 13ga. / 1" length ones from ebay that you linked ?

Also thanks for reminding me fasttech sells the original Motar, don't think they stock the coils but hell yeah, the whole thing there is only a few bucks more than the cost of a coil.

Thought I'd point out a few things that may help prevent some confusion here.

@AbysmalVapor I see you said yours is the "Giraffe" version, I'm sure you're aware of this: yours is not a Longmada Motar of this threads namesake...

It's a clone or re-brand of the Longmada Quarta with a Longmada Motar style glass dome/stem. Unlike the genuine Quarta, the clones are typically available with 4 different types of glass mouthpieces. The version with long vertical stem is the one that's called "Giraffe" .

@psychonaut did correctly mention they're "DHgate knock-offs" a few posts in, but after the Quarta/Motar clone was brought up the discussion can sometimes get confusing when in subsequent posts it's not mentioned which device someone is commenting on.

They're similar but different devices - different manufactures - different style coils/buckets. The clones are popular on DHgate and usually IVEID branded:

IVEID Quarta
IVEID Motar
IVEID Giraffe
IVEID Bubbler

The Motar has a cup or bucket style coil with a flat bottom and the glow coil directly underneath, The Quarta and IVEID clones have a raised dimple in the bottom center of the cup, the glow coil resides within the raised dimple, and the cup is set in a steel cage.

I hope this clears up any past, present or future confusion on these.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Ok that said @AbysmalVapor, I'm hoping you can you clear up a few things about these Quarta/Motar clones:
  • Were you able to order just one pc. from Jqecloudvaping for $9.99? Was there shipping?
  • I assume with this you're suppose to you place product on top of the raised "dimple", I've read feedback stating it wastes product because some runs down the sides off the "dimple" into the cooler surrounding bottom channel and doesn't get heated properly, have you found this to be an issue?
Do you also have a genuine Longmada Motar? If so:
  • Does the glass from the Quarta clone fit the Motar & visa-versa?
  • Are coils swappable between the original Longmada Motar and Quarta clone
I'd like to try the Giraffe stem (long vertical) on the Motar. Here's some listings for just the glass mouthpieces:
(aliexpress)
IVEID Motar/Giraffe/Bubbler mouthpieces
IVEID Quarta Mouthpiece

Looks like the Giraffe mouthpiece is out of stock, but can get the whole unit for $14.69 w/free shipping

I believe Jqecloudvaping is Ecloudvaping on DHgate

I also found another similar unit, the Vapmod IQHS Mini Dabber, its coil is very similar looking to the Quarta and clones (metal cage) However it appears to have a flat bottomed bucket like the Motar instead of dimpled, photos of the coil aren't real good though so it's hard to tell for sure.

https://www.amazon.com/SODIAL-Stain...3J33436YNDB&psc=1&refRID=1RD6GGH3W3J33436YNDB

These are the best size I found to drop down in the Motar top hole to 1mm
above or below bowl line.
That is why a Bubbler like the posidion2 works so well.
I use this gauge in the Sai, a 15ga for the Mole more restriction.
Without this adaption you will have to finger it for inferior air flow.

So I received my SAI coils (Quartz bucket, Mole)

I was apprehensive about trying to modify the motar's base with a longer pin, for one I can't see how to remove the original pin? And there isn't much room for error in there if something goes wrong!

I ordered one of the "Giraffe" Motar clones to see if the SAI coils fit.

What was pretty cool though is this... the coils fit/work in the yocan NYX base, hold in carb button for TAF!
(But they only fit without the threaded retaining ring and the atomizer cap almost fully seats)

The NYX's carb button can also be fixed open using one of those silicone vape-rings.

But all the fun and experimentation quickly ended when the ceramic skillet heater cracked apart from a q-tip swabbing of the quartz cup!

I posted about that issue in the SAI thread.

There is no electrical connection , just push it out.
Nothing to go wrong.
If you still use the Base for the Longmada crap coil leave it alone.
(could have been a good idea, but poorly implemented)
I posted that tip for peeps who had no Sai & wanted one.
Those instructions on Motar coil at 45 watts insures that coil will
blow up quickly. Then you have a TAF Sai only base.
Take a pin out of an old heatsync, slides right in there.
I use ONLY the Motar TAF Glass with whip on the SAi, Mole when home.

I ordered one of the "Giraffe" Motar clones to see if the SAI coils fit.
DHG has two types pf glass TAF that work for $7

Bummer, got a 5 pack at HVT of just donut coils for Ti Buckets no bucket less than $5

OK I'll try it! Do I push it out from the bottom (small end) out through the top?

Why do you feel the Motar coil was poorly implemented? Size is the only thing I can see wrong, and that's probably subjective. The SAI buckets are much smaller (perfect size for me) Other than that I'm not yet seeing the benefit of the 2-part SAI Quartz cup coil over the 1-piece Motar Quartz cup.

That SAI coil 2-part system has already failed me before I could get more than one good use out of it. The Motar coil sure didn't do that.

Was it my fault it broke cleaning it with a q-tip? Maybe, but the Motar coils are wayyyy more robust for q-tip swabbing/cleaning - you can q-tip the hell out of a Motar coil, even when hot - you can fire it to boil the water a bit then swab and press as hard as you like with the q-tip, nothing ever broke.

I don't see how the SAI coil with the ceramic heaters are better than the Motar coil with the embedded coil, Personally I feel the embedded glow coil is a far better design, the SAI coil IMO is more delicate and prone to breakage of the ceramic. In my experience the Motar coil was far more robust than a ceramic donut coil, my Motar coil lasted longer and took more abuse than any of my ceramic donut coils.

ALSO...The connection of the (+) leg of the coil where it attaches to it's 510 center pin is EXACTLY the same crap design as the Motar's, no real connection - just bare wire pressed up against the center pin by the pressure of the rubber gasket - they both have the same crap wire-to-pin connection, so no advantage there...

This is the weak point of all these coils, after prolonged use the heat causes the rubber gasket to harden/shrink, reducing pressure of the wire against the pin, and also the wire itself becomes heat tarnished, both of these increase resistance until the point it can no longer function, this is what happened with the Motar's coil, the element was actually still working. I suppose all these coils use this design though.

Honestly my only gripe about the Motar coil is the HUGE cup size. I think the perfect quartz bucket coil would be a Motar embedded-style coil design in the smaller size of the SAI cup. Would be great if SAI would develop that. I'm going to try and work with these SAI quartz cups because I really prefer their smaller internal size.

Yeah, pretty sure I posted a link to those Dhgate glass tops in an earlier post.

What I meant was I ordered the "Giraffe Motar Clone" for the base, to see if the SAI coils will work without changing out the center pin.

I did however get the tall giraffe model to try a different glass as well, the clone glass will also fit the genuine Longmada Motar base.

Also just for kicks, I'll going to look for an 18mm glass top to use on the NYX.

got a 5 pack at HVT of just donut coils for Ti Buckets no bucket less than $5

Was that a special sale? Looks like the 5-pack breaks down to $6.30 ea. plus shipping, after 10% (at least I think these's a 10% code I saw somewhere)

Not sure which one of these are the right coils for the titanium/quartz buckets?
https://humboldtvapetech.com/product/ceramic-donut-coil-sai/
https://humboldtvapetech.com/product/sai-top-airflow-w-bucket-coil/

In the description of the first one it does show "These coils are compatible with both the Sai Atomizer and the Sai Top Airflow Atomizer"

Oddly the more expensive ones (5-pack) appear to not include the threaded retaining rings, but the less expensive ones do.

Finally got my replacement Motar in today, soooo happy! Works better than ever on my new Wismec RX2100 at 20w in power mode. Much better flavor than the old one that I was running on the Pico at 30-40w. Vapor is a bit lighter though, might have to crank it up a couple watts, although the effects were off the hook!

<><><><><><><><>

I have one of these too. I have the Giraffe version with a side mouthpiece ,lol. It rocks hard !..................
..........................I even managed to run in TCR on the WISMEC RX300
Good to know the DHgate Giraffe/Quarta clone works in TCR, I've got one (Giraffe version) one the way. Having trouble right now with TCR on the original Motar though.
<><><><><><><><>

These motar's work very well though I think a QQ would be a better performer just judging on the coils on mine vs DT's, plus rebuildable. For the price, these are great portable units but I think the dhgate knockoff's aren't built as well as the QQ. I think the replacement quartz dishes are around $7 per for the motars, if you can find them.

http://ineedhemp.com/product/quartz-quest-510-thread-concentrate-atomizer/
The Quartz Quest looks pretty good, they estimate the coil lasts about a year! Interesting and ironic that Longmada (Mfg. of the Motar) is also the Chinese producer of the Quartz Quest for Divine Tribe:

Ok got it to work well, locked resistance at .458 TCR 185 -190 I got many tests to try with AF & these settings and some really creative crazy ideas with mixing diff air flows. Thanks for that base TCR, I was over shooting it with 200 +
Locked resistance at .41 ohms on the Wismec, set to TCR 185 / 20w but it keeps jumping right into power mode.

I've had that happen before when the TCR value was off or the resistance was off, not sure what's going on with it. Maybe I'm doing something wrong? I emailed Longmada and asked what the wire is made of.

Anyone find TCR settings that work with the genuine Longmada Motar coil?

A few have posted settings here, however it's hard to tell which coil they're referring to, since 3 different coils are being discussed:
  1. Genuine Longmada Motar
  2. DHgate Giraffe/Quarta clone
  3. SAI bucket coils
Tried TCR 185-190 / 20w but it defaults into power mode.

I know this is an older thread, but it influenced my decision to buy the Longmata Motar and I wanted to add my 2 cents for the next guy scouring the net researching this device. The's not much out there.

I paired the Motar with a big 4 battery brick I had kicking around and I am digging it. I have the RX300 at 24W which is working out nicely. A BB-ish sized dab gets me 3 or 4 milky hits. I've only had it for 2 days at this point, but so far I am pleased with it, especially for the $22 USD it cost me. It's nice to be able to do a quick dab without dragging out the rig and the torch.

We are on the same path, my friend. I am using the same 4 battery mod except I run mine at 20w. I also use a whip with mine. That huge battery pack and a whip make it a perfect table top setup. I still use mine every day. I's my daily go to for rosin.

I was able to run mine on the RX300 with the TUBO software in Cruise mod and TC ,i had to dial in resitance but it works great :). Coils are SS.
Dont you notice that the cups from the links are different. Flat top instead of having a bump ?

I couldn't get the Tubo software to function properly on my RX300 when I tried a few months back. Haven't gone to see if funkyjunky updated it since, though. After fighting with it for an evening, I said screw it and gave up. I mostly used the TuboX in cruise mode so without that available I'm just going to sell it. I have other devices. The RX300 was the 3rd mod in like 6 months I went through using the TuboX. Not that it's the TuboX's fault.

Anyway, the RX300 is definitely doing a good job getting these little dabs boiling. Glad it was useful for something. I'm going to look around for better firmware for it, though.

Good idea with the whip. That mod is a good anchor. I might give that a shot. I will drop the power down or raise it up a bit too and see how that it. I really didn't do any testing. I just chose an arbitrary number I had in my head that was within the range I'd read that others were using with good effect.

Just so Dab HAppy!
@Abysmal Vapor What settings do you run on your RX300? Are you doing extended sessions with the Tubo (myevic) software? Do you get the 'hot device' screen message often with that RX300?

Hey ! Can really tell anymore cause i recently became victim of house robbery, and got some stuff wrecked and other stolen, sadly the rx300 was among those.
Planning on getting one in near future though ,i really like the performance. Well i could do at least 1 minute without overheating. More than enough, having in mind the quick heatup. I dialed my resistance 50% of what the mod was detecting as a value, then did some minor tweaking and using a temp probe got temps displayed matched to reality.

The whole idea behind thermocouples is calculating the temp based on the shift in resistance of the weld-ball of NiCr (Most common thermocouple materia)l . Basicly what TC software tries making your coil the sensor itself ,but it is more tricky because it uses diffent materials, like SS which has diffent behaviour. But having already a calibrated thermometer with thermocouple you can easily, adjust things withouth havign to do the complex math.

Since the Motar/RX300 is my mobile dab rig, I came up with an easy way to store the little dab tool that comes with the Motar. I super glued a couple of super strong little rare earth magnets I had left over from a project. You can get them on online for cheap. They are perfect. I can pretty much toss the dab tool at the RX and it snaps right onto the magnets.

I want to buy a sai TAF now I found this... I am totaly new to such devices for concentrate...
I own a hypnos linx and want to use rosin in sai taf ti bucket/quartz or motar...
which one would you recommend sai taf or motar and why?

I have the Sai, the Quartz Quest and the Motar. The Motar wins hands down.

Both the Sai and the QQ take forever to heat up and cool down. The quartz bowl on the QQ is easily twice as thick as the Motar and although that might seem good, it takes forever to heat up.

The Sai and the QQ both get so hot, they are hard to handle. On the Motar, the heat sink gets hot but I can actually touch it and unscrew it if needed.

For portability, the Motar falls short because of the 'giraffe' style mouth piece.

I have all 3. The QQ and the Sai just sit in the drawer.

I live in the US and I bought mine from Aroma Vapes. I am unsure of their shipping policies, but it appears that they ship internationally.
