@seedy53 looks sure that the fact it gets hotter on the outside is because the metal tube is not as good for insulation purposes than the previous material.
Maybe they have calibrated it again to compensate for the lack of heat retention in the tube (caused by the lower insulation)

Now I wonder what would happen if, inside the insulation tube, and around the inner tube, you put some silver collars (on the part of the balls and near the camera) :freak:
but outside is cooler to the touch

chillAtGVC i don't know, it works well though

@kokolokokolokon I am pretty sure that was @TigoleBitties with the higher than expected temperatures.

@seedy53 The programming cable sets the target temperature for each level. The unit is off (not heating) when these are set so it can't read the actual temperature produced. But... if the stock temperatures have been reduced, then you should be getting more hits before exhaustion, not fewer. It should be a difference in the bits used to detect temperature vs the OG, or you could have gotten a defective unit.
Yeah that was me. I've got the new AE but I'm just back from vacation an haven't tried it out. I wouldn't be surprised if the new presets are different from what was originally advertised.

Has anyone opened it up yet to see what it looks like?

Ok I'll try it out today hopefully.
i have noticed that my new AE unit eats more power. i'm getting 1-5 min session per 1 battery bar section (per bowl). i get 4x5min. sessions before i need to charge with 20% power left. i used to get 6 or 7 sessions at level 3 on og AE model.

after i get feedback from @TigoleBitties i'll reprogram the new AE to og model settings.

as suggested, it may be a defective unit, however, without knowing what other units setting , it's just guessing it may be defective or yll adjusted it, even though Mike says they did not. hoping it's just a fluke.

So here are the presets on my new unit : 175, 184, 193, 202, 210

Why are these values so different than what they publish? I don't think it's a big deal but the QC is strange. For those without the cable expecting the temperatures in the manual, they will likely be surprised.

Not sure what I'll do yet. Looks like my unit starts at 175 and goes up by 9 degrees roughly each setting. I'll do some burn offs and then see what those values feel like. I used to like having at least one low setting around 160C

@seedy53 Those are pretty much the temperatures that I have set mine to.
yeah but my unit cooks hotter than og. weirding me out lol

edit- i'm going to do my ae at level 5 and see if it's like og 3 setting and going to get out the og for side by side cooking and compare as best i can. need to see if og is set at factory settings or not.

edit-2--- my og settings are 185, 195, 205, 215, 225c wtf

edit-3-- i set my new AE to The FACTORY Setting of 180c through 220c. i'll vape again after supper. i think there is no calibration going on.

So I just had my first bowl. No weird smells or tastes after 3 burnoffs at max temp. I like to blow through the oven from the bottom of the unit while it heats to simulate drawing through it.

That smooth halogen taste was still there. Very pure and soft. Great airflow, maybe better than I remember. Maybe 175 as a starting temp is low enough. The first few hits took a while to get visible vapor but were very terpy and nice. Still using the capsules and I pack them pretty tight.
