i do admire your ingenuity.
Thank you
If i want a plug in, ill buy the 4MD. Dont think its worth the risk.
The 4MD looks awesome but a 2ZM with a wall plug is just lush levels of convenience. If you want a 4MD but have a 2ZM you could just add a DC plug and save the money. Adding a DC plug has no risk because your not removing anything just using the existing wiring. If I wanted to revert my 2ZM back to stock it would be no problem, 3 min job. I would say making a DIY halogen Light tube vape is a more involved process then adding a DC plug to a 2ZM.
Only problems with the 2ZM is when people have messed with the glass.
This we are in absolute agreement on. As a vape that is DIY repairable its frustrating that i just simply can not mess with the glass heater without damaging it. If I could just pop the glass out without having the accordion mesh come out with it, I would be on cloud nine.

One of my buttons failed. First it started to stick then it stopped pressing down properly.

I have swapped it out for my spare. Took me about 30mins. A pair of pliers and a screw driver was needed to perform the surgery. Overall I think the patient is doing well. Quick test confirmed it's working.

The spare button seems to be slightly different from the one removed. Longer screws and Flat head / Philips head hybrid rather than just the Philips head of the old.

My other button seems to be a longer hybrid screw version. I think that means I only have one button of the bad batch.

I have stocked up on some more spares, for just under £10 I have 7 more buttons coming my way on Ali express.

More testing is needed but it seems like the DIY fix went without drama. As long as it keeps working all is good.

Can you post a link, please?

I'm still of the opinion that using buttons only rated for 3A instead of MOSFETs is not a good design decision, but it has been this way since the Zion days...

so this happened to all of my buttons as well. I think what makes these buttons fail is that through handling and usage you end up twisting the internals of the buttons and they get stuck. When i had 2 buttons to press to activate the heater i would try holding the buttons down with one hand and the leverage would cause the buttons internals to move a little and over time get stuck. I managed to unstick one of three buttons and that's the one i have left to use.

replacing buttons and rewiring is very DIY friendly. I bet it took you 30 min only because you was careful and took your time.

I tried every button i could find on amazon to replace the ones that got stuck. All of the amazon buttons ended up being too squishy so I returned all of them and used the last one i had. I hope the Aliexpress buttons you get are firm and have a deep activation switch. i'll buy a pair if they are firm.

As an outsider to this thread, your collective commitment to making this device work is a lesson to us all. I actually wish more products required the active collaboration of their users to make them all they can be (although I accept this is not a popular pov amongst folks whose passivity has been carefully groomed over decades).

It's a basic but flexible device, pretty easy and very productive. It's been a lot of fun fooling around and finding various ways to use it although it's fair to say the weight and bulkiness have inspired these desktop approaches for me. I wish it was more widely available because it is a really enjoyable and very effective device. I agree that experimenting like this and having the larger group's thoughts and creativity really adds to the experience. Sometimes it's enough just to see the fun someone else is having in their own creative mode. : )

2ZM is such a beast that I no longer use my Milaana 2/3, TM2 😕
(or exceptionally when travelling where discretion is of the essence)

I would have liked to have a sort of lid like the OG Zion to be able to store the stem as well as herb and the AVB and also a small emptying tool. All on two 21700 batteries and a DC power jack for use as a plug-in unit (like our friend KeroZen here or ADULTSWIM here). Perhaps also a bit more safety for a mechanical mod worthy of the name (although I understand the KISS).

A large electric brick that can be safely transported (with all the necessary) and used in portable or fixed mode (on-demand), that's my dream!

2ZM is so powerful that I've had to pack up a lot of my other vapes and generally prefer this one now. My trinity is now OG Brick, 2ZM and CouchLog. Damn it, guys.. can't wait to get the 4MD!

Yeah, this thing rocks so hard. I put it away a week or so ago to give other vapes some use, but it won't last long. It's the weekend. ; )

I can't wait for the 4MD, too! Gonna be badass for sure.

The 2ZM has huge amounts of power, and momentum behind that huge heater.

But what has me coming back to it time after time, is some how it's not harsh at all.

I think this is down to the large surface area of the heater, and it does not have to get to such high temperatures to vaporize.

I feel there is some lessons that can be learnt here for future vapes. The more surface area the better.

I think you're right, and it seems to be why Ryan's so excited with the 4MD. I think the addition of the balls was in part to tame it a little. The 2ZM Is really nicely tuned with plenty of power to run low, as you say. Great vape and just fun to use.

Dang! Where did you get that whip?!
elev8 Glass. The MP was made by Steve and was my first piece of custom anything (got it for my SBL Maxx). The wand was a one-off piece that pretty much matched a knob I was looking at as well. So, it's a handful of custom pieces from elev8 that just happen to work together. None of it was particularly pricey in terms of what their custom sets can run.
