I thought a heat sensitive coating for the Tempest like an LCD thermometer strip would be cool. So it changes colour as it gets hotter giving a spectrum from cap to mouthpiece! Could even act as yet another temp gauge!

Agreed! It has the advantage of having two arc's cut out of the circular magnetic part that grips the head securely so a stronger magnet isn't needed, and no sharp edges to scratch the Vi housing. I believe it was added for the Tempest specifically (if not it should have been! 😉)

Hope this works... The right hand pic shows the Tempest's glass cup set in the wand from the back. On the left you can see the glass protrudes about 1mm past the red 'ring' surrounding it. That means the Tempest if placed at full depth in the glass cup would be able the deepest it should be...

Far as I know, everything in there is steel and titanium except for the o-rings and any reclaim. I'd imagine if you take it apart you ought to be able to get a better idea, though I'd guess the worse may be a matter of scraping off a melted o-ring?
