i have had mine for over three years now and have had to do it twice. exactly the same symptoms as yours.

first thing i would try, undo the screw at the bottom with a torx screwdriver a little bit, wiggle the top and bottom plates around a bit, then screw back together tightly. edit: as cybrguy said above.
