Not sure did this right my answer are in the ones in bold above. Ended up removing the inter gasket . I find with one good hand very hard to remove stems with it installed. Getting better hits without it using a wooden stem.

That's my only regret about the DNA250. Like the look with the splinter on it. Aw well I'm sure I will end up with a DNA250C soon. Here's a pic of my splinter setup.
