regulated vs unregulated power supplies for "log vapes"

Yes I have tried the elastic trick, it works quite well. Years ago I made an enclosure for the HDD using an aluminium box and gel packs. That worked even better. Nowadays I use an SSD and a laptop drive for storage, so I don't really need to do anything. Sounds to me like the power supply is...

regulated vs unregulated power supplies for "log vapes"

I agree I hate fan noises. For years I've been a regular over at the silentpcreview forums. I've built a few silent computers during this time. My girlfriend thinks I'm a bit crazy. Glad to hear the power supply is working well. I really like the look of that display too.

regulated vs unregulated power supplies for "log vapes"

You won't get any power out of it unless the footswitch is closed. I had the same idea as you, I opened the power supply to see if I could short it internally, but even though I'm comfortable with soldering etc, it looked like more trouble than it's worth. It's much easier to just get another...

regulated vs unregulated power supplies for "log vapes"

U bwade wunner, if it's anything like mine, that supply should work well. The only thing I'm concerned about is the current output, as that is not mentioned in the ad. Should be ok for the vape though, as I think the tattoo guns have a higher current requirement. It will certainly be a regulated...

regulated vs unregulated power supplies for "log vapes"

Yes he means amps. Anyway, I found the dial on this dimmer to be too sensitive. I've been using a tattoo power supply for the last few weeks. It's similar to this. I paid $15 for mine, but shipping was really slow, it took about a month to get here. It seems to work well. It uses a mono...

    Underdog Log Vapes

You can disagree, but I've got one right here so I can see exactly how it behaves. If you've got the patience, then yes you can set it to whatever level you like, I'm not disputing that. However, as I said, the smallest movement changes the output quite a lot. Moving the dial a millimetre...

It's too sensitive for that. Without a voltmeter you are lost.

    Underdog Log Vapes

I recently got one of those for $7 on ebay. I've got it hooked up to a 15V 2A power supply. It certainly works, but the knob is sensitive and moves too easily. You'd need to keep a meter hooked up to it so you can keep an eye on the voltage.

Now I see what you mean... I've got one of those plugs but never looked inside... I think they're found on higher rated power supplies eg mine is on a 15V power supply.

Not sure what you mean... I've never seen any plugs with prongs. There might be prongs in the socket part though.

I have left the UD silicone stem on my PD @ 14V for hours. I've done this many times and it doesn't seem to affect the silicone.

regulated vs unregulated power supplies for "log vapes"

The regulated supply might drop a little under load. I use the same part for measuring voltages under load, but I have it connected to a socket so that I can just plug any power supply into it without needing to cut wires. The socket I use is a matching screw terminal part, although something...

It's hard to recommend anything from a local shop, as they'll just have the same thing you can get on ebay for a quarter of the price.

Volcano Vaporizer is it worth the price?

It seems that the only purpose of this phrase is to offend. Kind of funny since you then go on to talk about debating evidence. What a crock.

Welcome to the world of high voltage vaping  From the sounds of things you have a switching supply. I've never seen a notebook adapter that isn't. When you can measure the voltage under load you should find that it is close to 13.8V, which is around half a volt lower than its unloaded...

Volcano Vaporizer is it worth the price?

Sorry to have caused any offence, I was simply stating what I have observed. If, after trying some of the better quality vapes, a person still prefers a Volcano then I respect that decision. Get in line for a HI ;)

    coughing

I think the type of vape has something to do with it. I've been experimenting with different stems on my PD and even that makes a difference. Having said that, I think the most important thing is to take in lots of air while hitting the vape. I really take my time with it and since doing this I...

Volcano Vaporizer is it worth the price?

I consider the Volcano a newbie vape. It's what you see smokers on other forums recommending to people who want to get into vaporizing, most likely because it's the only vape they've heard of. All that stuff about temperatures and different compounds, etc - do any experienced vaporists really...

Without knowing exactly what equipment you have, I would recommend measuring all power supplies under load to get a definitive measurement.

No, the PD heat port is 3/8" OD. Did you measure it while it was under load? If not then that 14V measurement doesn't mean much.
