When our electronics get wet we tend to disconnect the battery and throw them in a bag of uncooked rice. The rice basically sucks out all the moisture from whatever you put it in. Have you tried dry-hitting your stem? That's how I pre-clean my stems. Of course I do this through water path so the taste is offset slightly.
