I own the Grav version and my experience has been the same. You have to shake it a bit to get all the water out, but it's not that difficult.

Yep, that was the last round of orders where the "kit" was available. Said kit is not available to the waitlist purchasers.

IIRC, there was no second step, just a "You are signed up" type prompt after the form was submitted.

The waitlist signup link was initially sent on January 10th as a separate email, not part of the newsletter.

You are correct. The newsletter signup and waitlist signup are two different mailchimp lists.
