Yes, a firmware update somewhere along the way changed that on purpose. Tries to keep it closer to your set temp during draw and also helps ensure vibration goes as it realizes it went over set.
Oh, yeah I did light the candle using a regular flint lighter, but I made sure to spark it well away and let it burn for 5-10 seconds before bringing it over to ignite the candle wick.
If my S&Bs continue to require as much downtime as they have so far, I will invest in a proper flame when I...
My sessions, which are about 4-5 draws at regular temp and then 3-4 more at boost lasting about 7 minutes, I can get 3 easily, 4 maybe but never 5.
So I charge after 3 or 4 depending. I have a pretty good idea if I'll get a full session or not on the next one.
Thanks for all the great info OF! Maybe I wasn't clear, but I do avoid the flint dust by simply lighting a candle first. It burns my whole session and I just depress the gas button and place the bic mini lighter near the candle to grab a flame to use in the VG.
It's an original pipe model so...
Borrowed a friends VG while my two S&B's are in the shop and I am really impressed! I'm definitely picking one up for a backup. Tried some hemp wick today instead of a lighter, it didn't work well. Don't know about its quality I just know I nearly extinguished it each time I drew.
Lighting a...
Wee, got the stamps.com notice of a package being sent so Crafty on its way back to me. Mighty is being delivered tomorrow to them, surprised they didn't wait to have both to save on return shipping. ;)
Must say 4 days with my bad unit to ship a new one is pretty weak for promised "expedited"...
I got totally slow rolled last night. Went to my mailbox and found a parcel key!! It wouldn't be the first time S&B has sent a replacement without bothering to let me know.
Opened the parcel box........ a fucking book my wife ordered.... BOOO!
So my 2nd Crafty that survived only 13 hours of usage in less than a month arrived at S&B on Monday morning. In communication with them previous to sending it in, I was promised "expedited" repair service... Here it is 48 full hours later and no word from them on return. A polite email...
Ahh... The red oring on the knockoffs I am remembering was around the oven, don't know about the ones in the CU. I have 8 CU's at home, next cleaning day I'll have to see if any of mine CU's have odd colors.
You should check out this page though, there are certain rules to follow. :)...
My launch unit in the 2xxx range had blue for sure. The other shade like you said Stu. I have also seen a counterfeit firsthand with the red ones.
Maybe you had a knockoff Stinky? ;)
I was going to say the same thing. If the first one was sent in for repair right away it would have been replaced with a unit with improved housing and updated firmware. If those 3xxx range serials were purchased in June, they have been sitting around since October or November of last year and...
I have sent my Crafty twice and Mighty once (though it's boxed up for send number 2 today).
Always to the US, just follow their steps on the website and you'll be fine. From Alberta, I would suggest using Expedited parcel and NOT express. Expedited goes through Richmond, BC. Express stays in...
So after a week of hit and miss heating my Mighty is dead.
So this'll be the second time the mighty goes back and I'm currently waiting for my third crafty. With how well I treat these things I'm a little disappointed.
As an aside though, I'm think I might have have discovered why these new...
They can't (or won't) generate prepaid shipping for international. It's not uncommon and they've given an equiv. value in accessories when I asked once before.
They will pay to return the unit to me, sorry if that wasn't clear. Just getting it TO them is on me.
