Yeah, makes sense. I already edited my original post as you quoted it because I wasn't sure what I wanted to say
You're right, I didn't pay attention to the 'cloud production' heading. I was thinking of it as general advice. I'm not a fan of the high setting, but if you're looking for...
I agree with a lot of your thoughts about the Pax, but I must disagree with this:
I could not disagree with this statement more. For ease of use I would suggest medium setting only, but if I were offering taste advice I would say start on low and work your way up to medium.
I almost never...
Unless you were taught classical latin (I was), in which case it is roughly "pah-kays". C was always a hard K sound in classical latin. My old latin teachers always turned their noses up at the 'new' latin pronunciations, and took points off if we used them
Actually, the name is derived from 2 Pax. ;)
I took latin for 4 years in high school. So when I heard about the Pax I immediately remembered that pax in latin means peace, which I thought was pretty cool. The plural of pax in latin (in the nominative) is paces. I have 2 Pax, and I liked that 2...
Every night before I throw my Pax on the charger, I take a Qtip and remove just enough cotton so that it will fit into the metal tube sticking out of the mouthpiece. Then I insert the Qtip into the metal tube sticking out of the mouthpiece and move it up & down a couple times. It is usually...
I hope this isn't bad form to respond to this in the Ascent thread.
I have owned 2 Pax units for almost a year. The lubricant is not necessary if you keep the unit clean. I was given free packets of lubricant from Ploom, but have never had to use it.
Actually they did comment on the seal, and it doesn't sound quite like either possibility you mentioned.
From DaVinci (somewhere on page 19 I think):
"For those that asked, the lock will be a small clasp on the outside of the unit which will decrease airflow a little as well as preventing...
This was posted back on June 2. It mentions multiple party modes that activate depending on how many rolls you do. I believe they all function the same and just disable the standby mode so the unit keeps heating, but each one has a different light display. I could be wrong on that, I only...
Yes.
But you may want to check out the new Magic Flight batteries. I have used the 2700s for a long time, but I recently got some of the new Magic Flight batteries (with logo on the ends), and I prefer them to the 2700s.
This is worth mentioning. Unfortunately you're right, a lot of people come here looking for help on issues they are having. So the thread can give the impression that Pax is a problem child.
I find it to be quite the opposite :)
I'm cut. Same as most here, just because, not religious reasons.
Not sure how I would feel about making the decision for my child. It came up briefly in discussion with my wife years ago (she was against it). But we decided not to have kids, so it became a moot point.
Just realized that...
Wow, I knew Magic Flight covered user error, but I didn't know Ploom did. They were great the few times I have had to use their customer service, but that is beyond the call of duty in my book.
When you take the screen out, you will notice the air tube hole on one side of the oven. The screen is actually bigger (a little longer) than the oven. So it will not fit flat against the floor of the oven, one end will be sticking up a bit when it is in place. So when you place the screen...
Yeah, got to agree with lwien. It does not look like Friday is likely. They just sent an e-mail about a new revision they are making
(EDIT - deleted copy of e-mail because Dreamerr posted it as I was typing it in :))
I doubt they will get it changed and have shipments ready for Friday. I...
No. You can get good results with less than a full oven.
That's a tough one to answer. Do you feel lucky?
I like having the warranty. I've owned 2 Pax for almost a year and have had to send one back for a replacement in that time. So if I had tried to save the $100 like you are considering...
I always wanted to do a stealth version of the Mentos lids because it seemed off to have a bright colored lid on a black Pax. I finally grabbed some black vinyl paint this weekend. Not sure how it will hold up over time, but it looks cool for now
