If you qtip tech after each hit you won't need to worry about seeing through the dish to know it is clean. It may sound like a lot of qtips to use one after each hit but many of us do it.

I agree...the forked dabber and carb cap really sets the kit off, but damn does it get hot! I find setting it on its side rather than upright helps it cool down faster between hits.

Sorry for the late response, but yes, Q-tip tech is cleaning the dish with a Q-tip after each hit. I do it like @SamuraiSam and use one side of the qtip dry and one side wet. Dry first to mop and then wet to steam clean a little.
