One problem you may have with coconut oil is, it's a solid at room temperature. So I would think some amount of heat would be necessary.
For dosage, a good starting point is 1g of ABV. So if you have X g ABV starting weight, you'd want to end up with X brownies/capsules. A 00 capsule...
I've noticed quite a few people have been interested in capsules recently. This guide is a must read if you are planning on doing capsules. You can definitely use ABV and you can skip the decarb process when you do so. You should seriously consider making QWISO with your ABV ( you can use...
Nycdeisel, if you need more info, check out BadKittySmiles' guide. She gives guidance using hash and flowers but doesn't really mention ABV. Obviously, you can skip the de-carb process in her guide, when using ABV. She's a proponent of Soy Lecitin, which IIRC, you aren't. It's optional...
Coconut oil at room temperature is solid, so you'll need to take it at least a little warmer than room temperature. I've had success with an hour in the oven at 225-250F, using a baking dish sealed with foil. When I turn off the oven, I leave the dish in the oven for another 20-30 minutes.
If you are planning to vape the vg tincture in an e-cig, do not use the soy lecitin. As an emulsifier, it will work better in a fat like butter or oil than vegetable glycerin.
I find chocolate is the best method to masking the taste of the butter. As you noted, the taste was non-existent in your brownies. Keep your brownies in the freezer, to keep them from going stale. Also, try out different box mixes or try a made from scratch recipe, to find a brownie that...
So do you use a whisk to whip it? like cooking? I really don't understand the term budder, because the only oil I see is from my own trial and error. I assume you'd have to use a double boiler for this if going the ISO route?
According to the link from earlier in the thread on the first page, using frozen fresh buds can yield a decent batch of oil. I don't have access to fresh buds but I do use that same method with dry buds.I use that method because sometimes I use my oil for ediblesand it's already been...
I would go with a Tablespoon of butter or mabye a half tablespoon of butter. I find it takes about a gram of ABV to get me where I want to be so divide your butter into tenths. 1 stick of butter is 8 Tablespoons.
I'm interested in your "glass only" setup. I'm wanting to do something similar with my SSV. What did you get?
What I'm thinking is a standard HC wand for the SSV that has a 75-90 degree bend at the end that goes to a 19mm GonG. Another idea is a standard HC wand with a Spherical GG end...
If you start with clean equipment for your 1-2 gram experiment, you can reclaim your wandhash and include it's weight in your calculations.
If you vapor bong, you'll find that the water traps a lot of those lost particles. Strain the water and let it dry then throw what you find in your abv...
I calculate my dosage based on my starting weight of ABV. Say you have 15g of ABV and make 15 brownies with it, usually you can assume you have about 1g of ABV goodness per brownie. Or say you have 10g of ABV and make 20ml of tincture. 1ml of tincture will be about .5g.
It's pretty trivial to track this if your scale doesn't go to .01g but does go to .1g. Weigh out 1-2g. Weigh your ABV jar. Write it down. Vape the 1-2g. Weigh your ABV jar after. Write it down.
jarAfter - jarBefore = ABV
StartingWeight - ABV = your answer.
as far as particle loss...
Sure, you can eat straight abv but is it the most effective way to consume it as an edible? I've always assumed you are better off, bioavailability-wise, processing it into a fat or an alcohol.
Try throwing another stick of butter in the water and bringing it to a boil then reduce to low and simmer for 30 minutes. Then separate the butter and water. Also use something with a smaller mouth for that.
Hi BadKittySmiles! Welcome to FC. I love reading your recipes and check them often. Thanks for all the great information. I'm planning on making some capsules this weekend :)
