Imo the Mighty is reliable. Many of the issues were in earlier units that had the casing crack or come apart. Obviously in a forum about the Mighty you will get people who come here just to complain about their rma. The people with a perfectly working unit aren't coming here to tell us their...
In my experience you have to pay for shipping it to them. They are telling you to declare the amount as less than $100 USD do they don't get charged duty and taxes. Also declare it as a warranty repair to avoid duty and taxes. Just convert $100USD to euros if that is your currency.
I'm very skeptical that bud falling inside the unit is the reason. Eric even says he doesn't know forsure. Some of the users who reported offgassing had not ran any bud through it yet.
I feel really bad for people who have one of the recalled units or one of the newer units who may be vaping from it without knowing that it might not be safe. Not everyone frequents Reddit or FC so there are definitely people out there using these units unwittingly.
Just got my Crafty yesterday and had a question about charging. The manual says you should charge with the provided adapter. Are there any do's and don'ts to charging with a usb and powerbank? I just want to be sure I don't mess up the battery since the Crafty seems kind of fickle when it comes...
The pdf says this:
WARNING! VAPORS CAN BE LIBERATED THAT MAY BE
HAZARDOUS IF INHALED
So if it does offgas I wouldn't want to inhale what comes off of it.
Just because the Teflon is rated to 360C does not mean that it was meant to be inhaled from at temperatures close to its safety rating. It may be safe at those temperatures to use in industrial applications but it does not mean that it is safe to inhale from directly. I highly doubt it was...
Is there a general consensus on whether the reliability of the Crafty has improved with the new 20% battery life units? Thinking of picking one up but I already have a Mighty so not sure if it worth it. Has anyone with a new unit had theirs fail?
I don't claim to be an authority on vaporizer safety but I do have my degree in environmental science in which we studied environmental toxins. In my opinion I would never use any material is a vaporizer that is so close to the melting point. As has been mentioned frying pans offgas Teflon at...
I agree. The issue isn't just that ptfe is used. It's that it touches the heater. I am sure the minivap is safe as I've heard good thongs about it. This discussion, while it includes all vape is mainly focused on the Tera because it' the only vape I know of that uses ptfe directly on the heater.
Still waiting for a link. There's a difference between a clinical study which takes time and is very expensive and a safety certification. Until I see a link I'm skeptical.
I have my B.Sc. I doubt the minivap, safe as it may be, has had any clinical studies done. It just isn't feasible for most vape companies to afford it. I wish vape manufacturers sent their vape to a lab for offgas testing before production. Maybe one day.
We are aware no one is forcing us to buy any particular vape. There are some of us who are interested in the Tera but want to make sure it's safe before buying.
@mestizo the Tera has a concentrate mode that goes up to 500F. That means the convection heater is getting hotter than 500F because...
@SpudBob When I mentioned the ptfe thing I was referring to the ptfe directly on the metal coil not the outer sheath around the ceramic. This picture shows what I was talking about.
