I’ve been enjoying this technique lately. No need to cover/flutter the carb. Just wide open DTL hits. Very smooth vapor with very little draw resistance (pocketable bong), and surprisingly good clouds. Works good with the straw method to load the bowl.

This is a long shot but might as well try. Try adjusting the stem holder ring (tighten/loosen). If it doesn’t have an air-tight seal, performance suffers. Sometimes, people twist the stem while taking it out, so it can loosen up that way.

I’ve been doing this. Full bowl loosely filled with the “straw method.” Tamp anything sticking out the top with my thumb. Avb shrinks down to about half bowl size, and is more even. With the added airflow, I can take deep DTL hits with the stem airflow half open (?), and still get huge fluffy...

Maybe try horizontal heating? Tempest is horizontal and flame is vertical. I’ve done this. You can taste the heavy carbon taste before it sparks. Just wait a bit (to let the balls cool down some) and finish the bowl. The remaining hits taste like shit, but at least it’s not a total loss...

How far deep is your wand adapter? For me, the bottom of the adapter is in line with the red silicone on the wand. On a cold start, wand set at 610F and heat till timeout, my VI is right below the third mark. If your VI is maxed out, but you need to reheat the bowl, then you might need to push...

Yes and no (variance of glass and shit). I have 3 18/14mm male adapters. One fits snug, one is loose (fits but can fall out with vigorous shaking), and one doesn’t grab the tempest at all. However, I did have a brown o-ring from a previous Madheater order that is thicker than the gray o-rings...

After seeing all these pics of the rosewood, I should’ve got both. It’s affordable enough. Hopefully when my ebony comes, I’ll be less remorseful. But I’ll probably grab a rosewood on release day, along with an oven, screens, and pre-release kits.

Tip airflow locked at half open for me ( I set it, and don’t mess with it). On the native setup, I like MTL hits. On a wpa, DTL. Half open seems like a happy medium. Surprisingly, MTL didn’t do too well with the tip airflow almost closed. Not enough air flowing through the herb with small hits...

Same here. But for me, after that first huge cloud, my throat gets irritated and I struggle to finish the bowl. Kinda felt like a full bowl was just too much for me. So it makes sense to go half bowl for this style. But, for screen longevity, I don’t want to mess with it too much. Gonna follow...
