Every LB user should own and use a coffee grinder in my opinion. So much easier, so much finer grind!

A tiny piece of plastic could have come from another source, maybe from the herb's packaging, or even from the growers. I bet a very tiny, virtually unnoticable bit of hard plastic could cause a very bad taste.

Maybe a small bit of plastic got into your grinded herbs (maybe from a plastic grinder), which melted on the screen. Haven't happened to me (I use a coffee grinder), but it's a possibility to think about.

You got that wrong, it seems like it heats better when cleaned out... Maybe proper airflow was restricted by the buildup on the screen? I'm thinking it might have narrowed down the stream that goes through it a bit, hence the percieved loss of efficiency.

Exactly the same. The amount is not important, as long as it's finely ground. I think it will work with 0.01g as well as with 0.1g, it's super efficient.

A coffee grinder is much easier and hassle-free, also grinds to a much finer substance, better for the box. I say if you can afford it, it's worth it (I recently switched to an electric coffee grinder and it rocks). If you don't toke often (not daily), then some low self discharge batteries...
