I think Vapor Genie wants to stick to vaporizing pipes. They also probably don't understand how successful a GonG bowl would be. You can easily pickup a glass filter from VG for 33, and then a cheap carbon filter for around 10 on etsy-- add a screen and you're ready to go! :) *EDIT: Infact...

Sounds like a good plan to me. Just remember a jet torch is required-- a normal Bic won't work.. and pointing a torch flame towards yourself might be a little difficult.

IMHO, If you can still smell or see anything.. I wouldn't send it. I'm sure you can fully clean the thing out with a few tips from other Volcano owners. If not, you could also try a local in-state trade/deal, staying away from the mail.
