I've used ceramic cups with small articulating clamps to hold the coil in place (search Amazon for 'smallrig articulating clamp'):
Here's a variation using a small post hidden from view just behind the ceramic cup. The coil arm is bent at a right angle and zip-tied to the post:
I think the point is that glass-encased opals look really cool, even when you can't see them. I mean, c'mon! FREAKIN' OPALS!! And now, not only can you vape with them, you can VAPE THEM!
It looks like algae to me - I've seen similar spots on rigs that have been shelved with water for a period of time. Heating up the rig with hot water and then using a thick slurry of alcohol and coarse salt with vigorous shaking has always worked for me.
Whats kinda funny is that both of the tetherless combustion videos that I've posted combusted on the second hit after a deep 1st hit. I jut got sloppy and let my draw speed drop. :D
I still haven't tried it tethered. Based on the design and the testing that I've done with my own heads, I...
Here's my Omega parked on a CH Shovelhead bowl:
And parked in the Banger Hangar:
The handle is actually just a chopped 20mm coil with some silicone tape and one of ed's handles slid over the end - works well!
Probably won't get my abv piles until the weekend. I'll probably do a brief video clip of each hit and the abv in the bowl and throw them together in a montage. I did get a couple photos of the before and after of a 0.05g bowl roasted at 440°F, tho. Here's a little clip of the "before" fading...
I'm not a huge fan of any of the manufactured globes that I've tried, but I do love my lab flasks:
Relatively inexpensive to put together and the performance is awesome and completely customizable from fizzy to bone-rattling chug via different downstems. That's the 500ml; there's also a 250ml...
One of my favorite guitarists-that-nobody-has-heard-of is Drew Taubenfeld. He hosts a Youtube show for (pimping) Orangewood Guitars called "The Duet Show" where he sits down with some of his own favorite musicians to chat and jam. Pick any episode and you'll get a winner!
Just flower. It was actually the second hit of the session with both of those, too!
The first one is my tetherless TKO. Initially, I was just trying to turn down the very end of the TKO to get it to fit inside the rTiTi bowl. I had it PERFECT, then decided to put a wee bit more of a chamfer on...
It's because the temperature sensor is close to the tip of the coil which is wrapped around the veeeery thin-walled "skirt" portion of the housing where there's no thermal load. When the head makes contact with the metal bowl, the heat will immediately start dumping out of the thin walls of the...
That's why I went the route of getting a small metal lathe for my kitchen table. Too dang expensive to prototype parts through a machine shop! I can get away with it since I'm manufacturing for a single customer... ME! But yea, that shit is PRICEY!
I mean that, unlike the DC pid controller, when that one measures 520F, it will likely display 520F rather than some lower temperature offset by a fixed number of degrees.
