What type of food person are you?

How did I forget pancetta???? The Italian chefs I knew would shoot me. One of the reasons I just got a smoker is so I can make my own bacon. Currently experimenting with madeira cured.

What type of food person are you?

American, Irish or Canadian? I like 'em all, but IMHO American (belly) bacon is the best. Love cooking in rendered bacon fat.

The Official FC Pets & Animals thread

Anyone see this? Apparently our cats really are the arrogant jerks they can appear to be. Of course much of the science isn't new, and it actually makes me love my cat more. I'm often a prick, why shouldn't my cat be...

    Schizophrenic

I'm sorry, but there is right and wrong on many, many issues. The method to get there is called "science". For instance, Newton's gravitational equations, Einstein's relativity equations, the structure of DNA, toolkit genes, the evolution of specific forms and animals, the 'iron law' of...

What type of food person are you?

As the chef who trained me used to say, it takes the same amount of effort and money to make bad food as good food. You just have to know what you're doing.

Tips on dealing with Pain long-term?

Don't know about you, but it definitely controls some of mine. Half the pain in my right leg literally vanishes most of the time I vape. Doesn't control a lot of the other pain, but it does something to my damaged nerves on the right side.

Tips on dealing with Pain long-term?

Dude, I feel for you. I started my unending parade of spinal surgeries and painkillers when I was your age (I'm 44 now) and spent the past three years getting off all the narcotic pain meds. And I am not in more pain than before I got off them. The narcotics do work, but if the pain is...

    The Herbalizer

You're probably right. It's just that I could afford the Herbie now, but at least another month til I can afford the chair. And like others, my EVO still hasn't appeared, making the Herbalizer even more tempting. Of course my sister in Canada reminded me if I'd moved there I'd get a new...

What type of food person are you?

Will head there next time I'm back in the city. Terrifying how few real delis are left in NY, though still better than DC, where there is exactly one.

    The Herbalizer

The reviews on this are so good, i'm starting to wonder if I should get it before I replace my wheelchair. The chair is a bit over $2k, and it'll make it easier for me to get around. But it sounds like the Herbalizer might work much better on my pain than even my OG cloud, which of course...

What type of food person are you?

What's the name of your deli? I grew up in NY delis, though the three my family had are now gone

    Schizophrenic

You are right, numerous governments have used the label of mental illness to illegitimate opponents. And there are plenty of functional schizophrenics in the world. One of the friends of mine it happened to has lived a perfectly normal life for 20+ years now, almost no meds at this point. He...

    Schizophrenic

SSRIs are not anti-psychotics, though they cane used in combination with them. It sounds to me more like you need talk therapy than an anti-psychotic. But I'm not a professional. My mom is (a licensed clinical social worker), and always reminds her students that psychosis is so relatively...

Can I get a positive head nod confirming that chili is so awesome?

I agree. No beans in my chili. Meat, meat, meat. But if you like a chili-style, easy to make bean and meat stew and you ever get bored with chili (I know, not common, but it does happen), try a Spanish cocido. Easy-peasy to make. Just take chick peas, throw them in a pot with as many types...

    Crunchy or Creamy?

Hells yes. Almond butter kicks peanut butters ass. Though the chef in me often turns it into marzipan:mmmm:
