Hi Duck These are the ones that you want: https://sinolec.co.uk/en/low-voltage-g4-gx53-gy635-gu4-and-gu53-lamp-holders/1211347-g4-ceramic-ceramic-lamp-holder.html See @blokenoname post #856 Probably worth you checking for a German supplier. They have VDE certification and it's printed on the...

@Cheebsy - excellent work. Also, the continuing research you mention sounds really interesting. Be sure to keep us posted. Those Sinolec bulb holders are definitely the ones for this job - see below. @blokenoname and @Megaton - thanks for the kind words . Here are the matched-up...

'The Misty Log' - DIY wooden Log Vaporizer

Completed work on another log yesterday. Here's the before and after: It was one of a pair of blackthorn blanks - the other one was posted here in mid November last year. They are a almost contiguous - there's about 1cm of branch missing between the base of the first one and the top of this...

Life's a beech  Here's the latest output from the log lab at Castle Brainac :). Beech is not the most inspiring wood for logs but this one's got some lovely grain and the shape gives it more visual interest too. I got the 'foot' effect by leaving part of a branch stem in place. I've...

Excellent find Bloke . I'll grab myself some of those.

    QUISO method refinement

Just an endnote on that QWISO run. The vacuum flask purge works well. Good ventilation is, as always, required. Well... brown goo again - but more on the amber side of brown, and more sticky than gooey  I'm happy with the quantity and the quality is excellent. To vape this sticky dark...

Yeah, that was me I'm afraid. And it ain't necessarily so. As Bloke says batches can vary even from the same seller. I bought a batch of the BlueXP ones you linked to and was not entirely convinced that the wire coating is teflon. So I messaged the seller and he/she absolutely assured me...

    QUISO method refinement

The aim of my post was not to reinvent the standard QWISO method. It's purpost was to offer a simpler means of keeping the ISO/herb mix temperature at a minimum without resorting to half frozen salty water and lots of ice cubes. It also outlines a sllghtly better method of evaporating the ISO...

    QUISO method refinement

Got a bunch of trim still hanging about from last year's grow. Most of it's earmarked for edibles but decided to use some for QWISO. I've done it before and ended up with brown goo. It's OK if you're not too fussy (and I'm not :)) but thought I'd try to do better this time. Read a lot on the...

'The Misty Log' - DIY wooden Log Vaporizer

Willcommen Duck. Das ist genau richtig . Ever find yourself short of a pick for the roasting tube tips ? Dropped that toothpick somewhere and can't find it ? Here's a DIY solution: Just a 14cm length of plum twig, sanded and conditioned. Left a little of the bark on at one end. At...

'The Misty Log' - DIY wooden Log Vaporizer

Very tidy bit of glasswork there  Do you need to wait til the neighbours are out ? :D. A friend of mine suggested, a few weeks back, that rolling pins could be used for making log bodies. Then, few days ago, he handed me a couple that he'd found in a charity shop. They didn't look very...

Those two part slide in tips look highly versatile and the improved air seal is an added bonus . Is there any problem getting the screen to fit between the sections? And I like the reflecting foil on the halo unit. Might as well put all that spare light to a good purpose .

@blokenoname best of luck with your Xmas project . It'll be interesting to see what you do with the apple blank. All I've done to the exterior is to remove the bark. The plum WonG blank is totally au naturel - still has the bark on. Indeed it does . The Rustic halo ash is pleasantly...

@TommyDee Here's the ss tubing I use for the HC: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07CBNLWHX/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 I'm afraid I have no idea if they ship to your part of the world. Note that it's 10mm OD x 9mm ID so the ID may be too large for your purposes...

If I were you I'd chuck 'em out. It's not just that they're combustable - those black and white leads might gas off at relatively low temps. Even out of the direct airpath that's not a good idea. I've just ordered a batch of the PTFE brown/blue ones - and they're just as cheap as the b/ws.

'The Misty Log' - DIY wooden Log Vaporizer

@blokenoname It's an adapted adapter :D. And probably the only hybrid WonG in existence :). Nice work . @TommyDee I think my G4 sockets are the same ones that you have. I thought the wiring's insulation looked a bit 'plastic' so I held a lighter flame against one of the leads and it...

A bunch of apples :) The 24v/30w cartridge heaters arrived a couple of days ago and that enabled me to complete the apple trinity. So here it is - made from three blanks cut from the same branch. Left to right: cartridge, halogen, resistor. Actual colours lie somewhere between the...
