Are you doing full or half bowl setting? Interesting but I'm not sure if that clamp actually transferring any heat to the bowl or venting heat to mid air got me wondering lol but the seal is definitely better that way . You might try talking a small terpy hit as you put the heater on before...

Can't type Edit. As I thought but wanted to be sure . I tested the using the bowl as an adapter. I fill that the glass injector bowl has more conduction . the wood diffuser bowl being more convection . Note I did notice the glass bowl not getting as hot as with normal injector ball...

Full disclosure that cap is a standard air flow it's filled with mostly 2mm ZrO2 and a few 3mm sic!! To answer the other question yes my water pipes get dirty really fast even with straight flower I have been looking at some catches
