JoJo used thermal paste to improve the heat transfer from the cartridge heater to the glass thermometer housing. I didn't want to mess with any of that, which is why I heated my vape externally.

I don’t have a vrod anymore to check but I don’t believe the air makes any contact with the heater chamber. You can just stretch the coil out a little bit if it’s too short.
