    Iolite vaporiser

Doesn't ring any bells with me, it could just be the hot temps maybe fooling your nerves into thinking it's cold? :uhoh: Dunno, maybe try cooling it through a bong with some putty to get a good seal and see if that gives the same result?

Classic vs. Digital - Volcano Vaporizer Question

I haven't used the Classic much, mostly the Digit, so just a few comments. From memory the Classic's temperature accuracy is +- 5C vs. the Digit of +- 2C. Not a huge issue for most, but for me it's the biggest issue when deciding between then. I want accurate temps so I can replicate the same...

Are some vaporizers more efficient than others...

Hehe reading my post again I am rambling a bit, but I do that :D Yeah it's an interesting topic, I've done far too much thinking and experimenting on this. I guess with all of the different models we use we're all glimpsing a bit of the chemistry behind these volatiles from a slightly...

    Iolite vaporiser

Are you inhaling through the mouthpiece while the iolite is heating and hissing? If so, stop - you don't want to be inhaling the exhaust by-products through the air intake, bowl and into your lungs. Only inhale while the unit is not hissing. If not, no idea I only get warm to hot air -...

Are some vaporizers more efficient than others...

Depends on your definition of efficiency, and to be honest I've skimmed the rest of the thread to catch up - not interested in all the bickering so just wanted to add my 2c on this. Vaporizers don't have a special heat source, agreed, but you can definitly extract mostly flavinoids and...

Had similar experience with poor quality butane, try switching brands and if it persists send it back.

    Iolite vaporiser

freeman: I wouldn't put plastic in alcohol, remove the stainless bowl for cleaning. Easy to remove just give it a twist and/or pull once you've removed the mouthpiece stem. You can also remove the screen widget from inside the bowl if that's very gunked up or just soak as one unit if it's not...

    Iolite vaporiser

The stainless bowl can be removed, maybe it's rattling about - try shaking with the mouthpiece installed and see if it stops. If not, sounds like something is wrong there aren't any other moving parts afaik.

Do different strains Vape properly at different temps?

It appears to be true, in that different strains have a different mix of cannabinoids and other volatiles, but it's pretty subtle. Temps and the rate at which you increase them (e.g. for subsequent Volcano bags) all let you play with the effects somewhat e.g. to emphasise more of a THC head...

    Iolite vaporiser

I use mine heaps more than my Volcano or Vriptech gear, it seems faster and easier and I just find it more convenient overall. Never had any troubles with it aside from using poor butane but a quick vent and refill and it's been perfect for months.

Kind of related, and interesting, the Lung Flute: http://www.boingboing.net/2009/11/17/the-lung-flute-a-sor.html

    Iolite vaporiser

Yep I assume it's just the expansion differential between the stainless thread on the bowl and the plastic thread on the mouthpiece. It forces you to get into the habit of removing the mouthpiece before it cools down. Word is the new stainless threaded mouthpieces don't have this problem and...

    Iolite vaporiser

It runs hot as it is so small - its portability and size is the tradeoff for running temperatures. I for one would rather have portability and small size. Adding insulation would jack up the size considerably, and the price, and it would not be such a great fit for your pocket. There's a...

Try rotating the can when aligning it on the valve - sounds like you're not making sealed contact so the butane isn't entering the valve? Either that or that can's valve is the wrong size? From empty it should fill for about 2-3 seconds then start spurting when it's full.

    Volcano

I've experimented with an oxygen mask and the Volcano. Instead of the usual size bag I make a small 5-6" length bag and on the end where you tie it off you could insert the end of a whip tube and tie it off on the tube or a length of boro inserted into the end. I just hook up an oxygen mask...

What would you change on the Iolite and why?

A ghetto solution for locking the bowl and adding a lanyard - pick up one of these detachable lanyard clips. Feed a loop of metal wire (looking for stainless or something equally safe) through the topmost heatsink fin and leave enough length so the clip can sit past the mouthpiece stem...

    Volcano

I've got one of Vriptech's Valloons - they were taken off the market after Storz & Bickel threatened legal action over their valve patent. The Valloon valve does fit on top of the solid valve, so you can fill up a Valloon and then attach it to their VWT via GonG downstem, but it's not really...

Umm, where is the exhaust vent so you're not inhaling CO etc. through the bowl and into your mouthpiece? :uhoh:

    Herb Grinders

Not my argument. I've got a 2 piece Space Case and have also tried upside down with the 4 piece (recommended it to others in fact). A plastic grinder with shark teeth gives a finer, more consistent grind imho.

Are some vaporizers more efficient than others...

Undoubtedly. The variables have got to be surface area exposed, decarboxylation, airflow rate, depth of material (causing temp gradients and affecting decarboxylation and boil off), rate of extraction with respect to different terpenoids flavinoids and cannabinoids - they each affect the high...
