Welp...we packed it up and say goodbye today. The Ascent has so much promise and I'm sure they'll iron out these issues and come up with other improvements over the next several months...just like most other new vapes. I hope to give it another shot then. Things will settle down shortly and QC...

Did you try the extend-the-mouthpiece-while-covering-the-glass-screen-and-suck test to see if air is flowing in from the internals?

Because of the direction of airflow, I don't think warm air is likely entering the device's internals. Rather, I'm concerned with the air flowing from the internals.

I saw clouds--once--with 1/5 bowl at 430°F through a WT. But only on the first hit. And it looked like what I get from the Solo on 4. But then, it was so hot that may have been the entire vapor content of the load.

I'm guessing because little bits of herb easily get sucked up there?

Mine aren't visible directly above (they don't stick out), but from an angle. At the bottom...a gap? Or just shadow?
