I don't have a gh but for anything battery powered its not good to leave it plugged in because it shortens the lifespan. You shouldn't let the battery become fully discharged either if possible. If you're not using it for a while you should store your battery about half capacity I believe.

To any owners of the anodized ti units, do you find that the clip scratches the unit, like when you're removing the battery?

If I'm not mistaken all the newer models, even black and silver have those cooler heat settings. I think mine does, I have the model with the battery indicator.
