It's all about giving margin to retail, distributors or no distributors. The crowd funded price had no margin built in which is why they could offer so cheap. Every other vape sold through retailers has this type of margin in their list price...so should the hopper.

Probably, but it could very well be a PCB assembly deflect that can be screened or reworked ...like a run of bad solder joints that applies for a few boards on a specific set of components. So it doesn't necessarily imply anything bad once it's screened out or fixed.
