It's very dry and deep, dark black. No brownish tint at all. It usually has a smoky aroma, not quite as intense as a combustion pipe, but in the ball park. If you still have an original Vapcap you can get it just like that by heating lower on the cap with a single jet torch.

It's not PRE-combustion, initial stage means it's just not finished combusting. The initial stage of combustion is the pyrolysis, char is the byproduct, hence, char-coal. Think of it like burnt skin, there's various stages of burns, but they are still burns.

I noticed that too, the stuff with a little bit of color is much more expensive than the clear stuff.

Lab testing is irrelevant if we can't simply admit that char is incomplete combustion. I honestly don't see how this is debatable. When devolatilization is complete, char and ash remain.

Eternal was criticized earlier in this thread for making too thick of a quartz insert. I think this just shows how variable personal preference is when it comes to flavor.
