Agreed, the first design with a slightly shorter can for grabbing the q tips would be awesome. I use a little mug and that's about how far the cotton tips stick out too, just enough to grab one.

Your tolerance should be low with as little as you indulge per week, sounds like you just need a new strain to puff on.

As long as the water level is high it will be fine, but the excess water drains into the main body and you will probably have to tip it to wet the q tip when the water level falls. It's basically a bubbler with no perc.

I don't think the depth of the dish is affecting your hot spot as it wouldn't have any effect on the air inlet.

That's pretty normal with the Showerhead, especially if the straight tube uses a removable downstem. Those type of tubes tend to have very little draw restriction compared to the backpressure chug of a stemless design like the CCG.
