No, it doesn’t matter. The Off switch disconnects the trigger circuit, which prevents the heater from being able to activate. It is not involved with the charging circuit.

Go as far beyond the click as you dare, I won't stop you. The only hard limit is the thermal fuse, which opens at 110°C. That's pretty damn hot. If you do several PWM sessions in rapid succession, you can trip it (I have done that while "testing" ;) ). FYI, the new thermal fuse imposes a ~2:30...
