    TinyMight / TM 2

'PWM Squeal' @badbee - Flashlight peeps turn to this immediately as a 'game over'. A lot of people can't hear these frequencies. They don't necessarily have to resonate with anything either. Just an ATiny13 chip will sing you a song. More progressive units just up'd the frequency to over...

    Herb Grinders

I don't get it. I bought a cheap Chinese grinder for under $5 all-in. The aluminum is nickle plated over copper and the inside of the grind-chamber is coated. Not a mark or nick on it despite the pounds of flower it has devoured. A quick cleaning with the Everclear and it is good as new...

    Dynavap VapCap

I was playing with a wooden stem that was rough inside. Setting o-rings was tough until I learned to set the middle one with a straw with the condenser installed. Then I could wrestle the one on the end with only a small movement of the condenser. Then again, there is no shortage of stems to...

    Dynavap VapCap

Still requires 3 to get the voltage up. However, a less powerful unit could work with 2x 18650 or 14500. 14500 enegry density sucks compared to 18650 but if you leave the unit in a charging cradle, no problem. I haven't got a cap to click at around 7 volts but it is within the IH spec. It is...

You can move the middle x-ring to below the airport to permanently block it. I still love my wooden stems with no extra ports.

I'm advocating for a normally-closed airport. Would that be more useful so you could clear the stem and complete the current inhalation? I'm pretty close to a real-time IH 'log', at least in a manner where I can give a few seconds of heating while drawing on the VC. What I need is get the...

Induction heater: which metals can be heated?

This is a function of the induction heater generator. You're throwing eddy currents into the metal. I suspect our rigs are not of a sufficient frequency to work well on smaller wires. I noted the same thing with a bike spoke (also stainless steel). But a VapCap is stainless steel or even Ti...

VapCap DIY Induction Heating : Bits 'n' pieces

Thanks. Definitely a workhorse. The part number in the image is still valid - E6930A. Today's manufacturer is Zf. Newark carries them - cheap. Coil is stock with a long run soldered to the PCB. Teflon tube is 2mm ID 3mm OD - eBay/Amazon PTFE is easier in search. The vials are shipping...

VapCap Induction Heater for Desktop and in Car Use

You won't be pumping 10 amps. 8 tops. In a compact housing 16 will work. I'm running 2' of 18 and getting 10.6v at the module during the heating cycle.

Your FET fried. One of the connections couldn't handle the load. Do test first without the VC in the coil. The load will be much less.

VapCap DIY Induction Heating : Bits 'n' pieces

I've decided that a 10A DC rated switch is more than sufficient to run this thing and simplify the wiring. I also want to be sure that any power switch is momentary. Current state of my daily driver IH; This has the 20A BMS on the end of the 3x 18650 cell holder so I can charge it with a...

VapCap Induction Heater for Desktop and in Car Use

I'm pretty sure that unit is also a MT3608 in a box. Can someone explain the directions on the voltage dial :mental:

VapCap Induction Heater for Desktop and in Car Use

I've worked with that little boost driver before (MT3608). This should work to kick-start the BMS. I was thinking battery charger. Battery chargers requires current limiting as well as voltage limiting. This unit would likely overheat as a charger trying to push the current the cell may...

VapCap Induction Heater for Desktop and in Car Use

I'm building a portable battery pack for my IH with a BMS. This is to pocket the cells and hold a smaller Caldron-sized IH as a hand-held unit. Mine is a Skeletor-IH but same difference. MODs; Feel free to move this to its own thread. First of all, at 60 watts of energy draw using my IH, I...

That makes sense. Thanks for the explaining.

VapCap Induction Heater for Desktop and in Car Use

Not exactly the 'right way' to charge these but okay :\ That second cable connects to each cell. Each cell want a maximum of 4.2V. Your charger will dump 12.6V into all 3 cells. This will work on a limited basis. It much prefers a proper balance charger of course. Is this just to...

    Battery Charger

As an old flashlight hound, I will add kudos to the reputation of XTAR. One of the few chargers I trust when not at home. They don't offer half-baked solutions.
