Another excellent pointer from a wise guy...... And all round good catch, I hear. Another big difference can come in taste, especially when changing strains, even sampling some new bud that life happens your way. The best of 'clean' and 'fresh' sorts of tastes can only come this way, I think...

Yep. I think CK may have first pointed it out, it's been around a while. Some go one step, I find that's marginal, I go two steps hotter usually. Almost to WTA levels. You'll notice the exposed SS tube gets quite hot in use and it sticks up a long way into the air. For sure, if you don't...

I ended running 170 for the m1 value, and 18 Watts as the power limit, basically what you are. At least for now. It seems to perform much like the V2.5 at 245 and 12 Watts......only bigger and cleaner. I'm lucky enough to have one of the medium cups and doughnuts (in a black V3 no...

I can't speak about lesser Forums, I avoid them. But the draw resistance is hardly a secret at FC. If you search this thread for 'milkshake' you'll find 20 or so times guys have used that term to criticize it (and of course that's only a fraction of the guys who have brought it up). Add in...

Give it a try, I think you'll find the notches in the lip offer little, but the GROVES UP THE SIDES do? They break tight seal to the outside of the stem you're cursing right now? Whether, in the end, that's a good thing for you only you can say, and only after actually trying it. Good luck...

Exactly so I think. For sure in my case. I've no such experience to offer....... If you'd like I can try to make something up? I'm pretty new at that idea, but is sure seems common on this here Internet? OF

A common enough tactic for sure, but IMO not without it's downsides? Without the threat of 'being left out of the will', decisions like 'should we save a little more money on the home where the patients wash their own sheets and bedpans?' become easier to resolve. Gives them a bit more to...

You just got a useful answer a couple posts up from a guy in the know. IMO you should take it seriously. The PVHES is going to give you what you think you want (less resistance) with it's vertical grooves and notches in the mouth. Just what it's designed to do for those who demanded less...

The screens themselves are SS and very well made. They are easy to clean if you 'flame' them. Hold them by the rim with tweezers or the like and heat them with your torch UNTIL THEY GLOW. Then brush/blow the ash off, load up and go again. Be sure to wipe the pan (ALA 'bowl') and upper screen...

Sure, you can do that if you want. The connector is a problem, it's not common and 'out of spec' for this Voltage (you won't find say a cell phone charger that works on Solo), but you can cut the end of the old factory charger. I get what you're saying about how your load doesn't touch the cup...

Great post. "Spot on" as they say on the details. Very much my experience as well. Load small, put too much in and you'll make a mess and waste the goods. But the above part, cutting it to fit the job, is flat out brilliant! Thanks, MP. Welcome to the fun, kej19. Good folks about. OF

If your Solo is old enough to be 'true PA' you don't need adjustable current (but you do need 2.5 Amps capability in PA mode, not the one Amp needed to charge). You need to lower the 12 Volts to something in the 7 to 9 Volt range. Before they went out of style, Pipes was selling a well...

I don't think I was clear enough, I think the TCR value I was using didn't matter at all. The combination of TCR and target temperature (they go together) never was taking control in my case (and I suspect others?). I was basically running in VW mode, not TC. Had I held the button down I'm...

At least one guy reported this and found it was the 'battery' (really a cell.....). You might try changing it for another? OF

I agree, this is a HUGE red flag to me. This class of cells (only a battery when in a pack.....look it up....) should be stored (and come to you) at about 70% charge. This is well documented. Those coming 100% charged and more importantly dead flat are clear indications of someone not caring...

You're welcome. A tough call to make 'blind' for sure. In broad terms a four Volt cell giving 2000mAh (high on the volts, low on the mAh.....but 'close enough for jazz'), that's 8 Watt Hours per cell. Divide that by 18 Watts and a single cell will give you over half an hour of 'key down...

First off, I'm enjoying my V3 but am now changing the settings some. I was using an m value of 245 (same as V2) at 18 Watts with some serious success. Than I noticed it was always 'getting away with me', that is overwhelming me with big production, and I was 'hitting the chicken switch'...

Sadly, that's my impression as well, still a guy can hope........ If someone wants to 'take the plunge' on our behalf, I'm happy to give what advice I can to them. I've sourced appropriate cells, PCBs, connectors and the shrink jackets. The thermal overloads I've found are similar but a...

The shortest GonG I have is the one from PV. Yes, IMO, the Air stems are worth trying. They make a useful 'poor man's GonG' and are also good for general use I think. For ten bucks you can find out? Battery replacement is easy, many of us have done it, but I'd stick with the factory battery...
