Is it crumbly. Does it stick together when you squeeze it. What temperature are you purging? Liquid tane? In vac chamber?

Are you screwing the retaining ring on upside down? Is your issue that you cannot screw the ring down far enough to hold the aaf(gold star washer)? The retaining ring's (nut) main function is to hold the heater in place and insure contact to the heater.

For me the vac has taken my results from this to the pics I posted earlier. My oil would budder and turn to crumble after a few days. Now it is completely stable. So, for me, at least it is essential!
