i got my order of AW batteries but I still couldn't get the black rod to work at 3.7v. now I have a multi meter to test it and the black rod shows 1.3 ohm by itself so i tried it at 6v and it works great.

i had the same issue before shortening the coil. what if there was a retaining ring of some kind to hold the coil down, how would it hold?

looks like your question was skipped are you running 3.7v ? what set-up? i love my sr71 with Persei set-up at 7.4v & 6v but haven't had much success at 3.7v. I'm hoping the AW batteries i ordered will help.
