Have you tried screwing the herc directly into the Persei without the bottom insulator and hear sheild? if it heats like that then I'd say try adjusting the screws in the bottom insulator a bit

If you build a mech box mod I'd look into using mosfet protection so the safety is built into the box you wouldent be able to fit the w9 protection circuit into the battery clip anyway Something like this should be good but you would want the battery's to be in series instead of parallel

I'm not a fan of the touch sensor either it's too easy to forget it and burn oil while holding the unit between hits

The AAF was added with the sr74 and is not actually necessary for operation it gives you more control over airflow but I prefer to leave it off and neither my sr71 or sr74 has one on it

The hammer tops have been discontinued for a while and the hammer function was added to the v4 top I'm not sure what warranty options their are for the hammer tops but for 20$ I'd just buy another as your going to end up paying about the same in shipping to send it in for repair

The sr74x upgrade kit is not needed unless you had an older sr74 it's a new set of chambers with a smaller upper chamber designed for one titanium coil and it also includes a non threaded top cap But since you ordered just recently your herc will already have the newer parts
