if you're not interested in de-waxing or winterizing, you could simply heat purge.
let it melt on a glass dish (or silicone mat/ parchment paper) with gentle heat.
a hair drier can help, after its melted down to the glass.
i don't clean the herc much. All i usually do is take out the rod, scrape off the black buildup, torch the shit out of it until it glows, let cool, reinstall rod. Vape
i never had a problem inserting the clean rod from the bottom, but i always take it out from the top.
once there is the slightest bit of buildup, it won't fit out the bottom.
winterizing kief is easy (if you have a good filtering tech):
add kief to small amount of EC in closeable glass container
let fully dissolve (may need to be above room temp for a bit)
put closed container into freezer for at least half a day
have some more virgin EC cold in freezer
pour keif/EC...
@nao12000 i don't see an option to buy the herc sr74 with a black (3.7v) rod only.
Would @wakeboard3584 need to buy the 7.4v herc and add a 3.7v rod to the order for additional $20?
i can get as thick a hit from my Herc (@7.4v) as you can get off a nail and i swear it tastes better than any nail.
@3.7v, the taste will be there, but getting a thick hit will most likely require slow milking. (I didn't have much success at 3.7v but as it turned out, my rod was defective)
I sent this pic to an Ophos friend, pointing out it comes with a non-stick jar.
she tells me that her Ophos came with a LEGO style jar.
WTF is a "lego style jar"?
@wakeboard3584 i don't use it, but check out EJmix. You will find a lot of people who use it to thin out their concentrates for use in standard e-cigs. (also used in making med-ible candies)

(this post makes less sense now that the threads have been merged)
i warm ec to dissolve bho to winterize. Heat water, then sit bottle in it.
Warm, like a bottle left in the car in the sun.
i crack the seal a few times to release pressure but i'm not getting it hot so only a little hiss.
