Have you tried just getting the coil red hot and just burning it off? As long as it's just on the coil and not the glass, then I assume that would work. Of course remove the coil from the glass first.

Yes, those are the names for the two. I was only confused because it seems that the site I ordered from calls both sizes (25mm and 38mm) the Tater Tot. (see my above link to the Brothers with Glass page that I actually ordered from)
